While I am aware that people are in jail for their own mistakes, that does not mean that the jailers have a right to treat the inmates less than human. While I have never been an inmate there, I have had run ins with the jailers and was spoken to horribly by the jailer who coincidentally was just behaving like this at the state fairgrounds and had an entire article written about him. I have heard horrible things about the Boone county jailers for years, but until I had a personal run in with them, I always assumed that was an exaggeration. I, a person who had nothing wrong, was treated like a lesser human being by a man who is in uniform. He was condescending, rude, ignorant, and he used pretty vile language. While I am educated and intelligent, you do not need to be to be aware that you don’t have a right to speak to anybody in that manner. I was cordial. There was nothing I said that would ever warrant that type of response. I have never known ANY place where you would be allowed to treat people this way and still have a job. It may be in Boone’s best interest to either re train your jailers or find some new ones. How horribly embarrassing for all of you.
