I was a student here very short lived. I was a “single parent.” The parent dorms were decent. I would not recommend it for anyone that is not a drop out, drug user, or anything of that nature. They look at everyone as if that is the case. There are tons of obstacles you will be faced with, and it is hard to get out of. But expectations should not be high. To be a student at any job corps, you need to have a strong mindset. You will witness so much! Especially students with kids. But I’d encourage you to get through it. You will be teaching yourself everything. Book work!

Job Corps Review A lot of students have noticed from being here or from completing here and one of the things that they have noticed that whatever trade they get into the instructors are amazing for helping them with their projects, work or final exam like Dental state boards or CNA state boards. Some students a lot of times come here for high school, to get their driver’s license or just trade but the students come here with many purpose. Being a new student on campus can be scary but fun at once, once you have been here for a week or the night you come here it will not see so bad. You will meet some friends but the main reason for being here is to learn that doing the trades here is blessing well learned not only is it work it but if you are wanting a job and wanting to be more experienced don’t just do high school and be done which is what a lot of the students say do trades as well for an experienced skills for whatever job you may find down the road. I’m taking the CNA trade but first thing is that you have to make sure that you have passed Health occupations which is work book and learning what you have read so that way when u go to the CNA class you know what you are doing. Not only is it fun to be in this it give you experience on how to take care of people a whole lot then the student know clinical is 3 to 4 weeks depending on the schedule but the whole trade together is 3 to 6 months. The Dental trade is where you go in a teacher teaches you everything about how to take care and clean peoples teeth so when you go to Dental clinical you will be practicing on each other on how to properly take care and clean teeth, this trade is 9 month to a year depending on how fast you work some people get done with this trade quick but all of the state boards have 100 questions for 2 hours but I do recommend that students work one on one with the teacher if they are willing to pass the state boards. We offer night school not only for the high school student but for whatever trade you decide to go into it is the best thing to do to get done with trade or high school quicker night school is Monday Tuesday and Thursday. Job Corp offers a whole lot of learning then most student give if you focus on schooling and nothing else you will notice but appreciate when you graduate or complete that Job Corp have you job skills that you have to know your job. Everyone’s first day here is nerve racking because when you come onto campus you have a lot to do before you come into trade or high school. You have new student orientation, career prep 1 and 2 then new student breakfast but the student that have been here for like 8 months or so are willing to help out all of the new students as much as they can.

Flint Hills Job Corp has done very little to salvage its reputation. The majority of its graduates are refused employment, almost universally, based on their choice to attend this 'trade school'. The facility itself is more akin to a delinquent center than an educational facility, and is ran and overseen as such. Students are required to consent to random searches, enforced curfews, and irregularly enforced 'punishments'. Which are portioned out in a severely biased fashion. Normally based on personal dislikes from the faculty and less for any actual infractions. If at any time, a student is found to be troublesome, they are often 'termed', a not so subtle expulsion. Then summarily charged for services (not) rendered and expected to pay a number of fee's and fines. On the off chance that a student actually manages to stick through the scholastic (high school equivalency) and trade (of which the number are dwindling) classes, they are likely to be forcibly graduated and removed from the campus. An increasing number of these students either do not receive their "incentives" (cash assistance for a home/ transportation while they acclimate to their new career) and are left homeless and without any funds, or are refused additional training in their career choice, and similarly dismissed. This program prays on innocent (and occasionally not so innocent) young people, I, for one, feel its business practices merit an in depth investigation for fraud, but as it is, they will likely run out of funding and simply be closed down.

They have a single parent dormitory on campus. I knew a bunch of single moms when I went there.
I'm sure they'd provide one for you
Yeah. Anytime after training hours and weekend passes have to be filled and submitted every wensday before Friday
From what I've been told as long as you contact the center and have your significant other verify it you can come visit after classes
It should be. There are different hours for holidays and longer weekends, but it should be. If not, residential will usually be able to provide pizza or something quick and easy.
It is being added soon.
Job corps is what you make it in all honesty. It will provide a more structured environment than your typical school, however there are still rules, that if not followed, can result in termination from the program. Job corps will only help if your son is willing to put the effort in, as the program is self paced. If the effort is put in, there are many, many opportunities to complete not only a trade but high school and drivers licensing if need be, all with a cash incentive awarded upon completion. At the end of the day, the program is what you make it.
You do have to notify your parents so they now about it and all that stuff
If you could message me on Facebook I could answer some questions for you about Job corps I currently attend job corps
