It was too windy to spend much time outside here but it would probably be a pretty place to have a picnic and look at wildlife if weather permits. There are a few picnic tables and grills. Also a walking trail that goes around the lake, although the wind was so bad we didn’t walk much of it. Go on a day when there isn’t any wind and you’ll be fine.

Tried looking up online to find out when lily pads bloom, but do any of the locals know when the lily pads are typically in season?

Is there a bathroom at or near the shelter? I'm going to be bringing a group of kids here for lunch and need to know.

Not at the shelter but there is a Casey's about a quarter mile down the road. They have a bathroom there.
