My story began when I was 14 years old and I am now 23. Stomach-aches and painful periods kept me home not feeling well. A couple years later I decided to begin birth control because I was told by my OBGYN and many others around me that it would help my symptoms. 4 years into taking birth control I started to experience additional symptoms. Painful and heavy periods were back, I got an ovarian cyst, UTI’s, sharp pelvic pain (flare ups) that sent me to the ER several times. Digestive issues, painful bowel movements and urination frequency, nausea, headaches. All my scans (ultrasound, MRI, CT scan, bloodwork) would come back “normal”. I began to feel like I couldn’t live a normal life and go to work, complete school and enjoy family/friends. All the things I once enjoyed were stripped from my life. I felt like no one understood me. I was tired of being a complainer and canceling plans. In October 2021, I had my first Endo flare up. This is when I decided to do some research. I found the term Endometriosis online being tied to painful periods. I read the other correlating symptoms and realized I checked every box. I found Seckin endometriosis team and made a screenshot on my phone. I thought there is no way I am going across the US for a surgery. Well, here I am I did it. I just got my laparoscopy surgery with Dr. Seckin, Dr. Chu and Dr. Goldstein. I finally had answers. My pain was validated from the moment I scheduled my initial consultation with their office. I felt understood. This team gave me my life back. I know it all seems terrifying at first with Endometriosis. I am here to tell you that this is not the end, it’s a new beginning for you. Reach out for help, fight for your health and always get a second opinion. My tips: Acupuncture, pelvic floor therapy, adjusting your diet, therapy for mental health, yoga videos, meditation, journaling and focusing on the good in life will carry you through. Dr. Seckin’s team gave me the stepping stone to move forward with my life which I’ve been longing for. THANK YOU Seckin Endometriosis Team from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

I had pain from the age of 11, vomiting and passing out at school, frequent ER visits and various doctors. At my first exploratory laparoscopy, at 18, they told me everything looked great and, though I had every endo symptom, none was found. I had years of pain, not just with periods, but constantly. After years of bursting cysts and emergency ER visits, the cysts became too large. I had my second laparoscopy at 28 to remove bilateral cysts and take out any endometriosis they found. I was told afterwards that they removed the cysts and did what they could but it “looked like someone had poured concrete in” my abdomen. They weren’t prepared for it. I was told later that I would likely need a large bowel resection and would only really be pain free after a hysterectomy; that I would likely only be able to have children with IVF. I started researching more and more because the pain only subsided for 6 months after my surgery. I found Dr. Seckin and his team through online research and decided it would be worth it to travel to see him from North Carolina. I cannot be more thankful for them. They removed all of the endo, scar tissue, a hernia from the previous surgery, huge cysts, my appendix, and were able to shave the bowel rather than resect it. I’m so thankful and appreciative. Dr. Seckin, Dr. Chu and Dr. Goldstein made me feel welcome and cared for and it was the first time I felt like my pain and symptoms were being listened to and addressed. I felt less pain than my typical the day after surgery. Seeing the pictures was eye opening and after being on all kinds of hormones, being put on something to actually address my specific problems was a breath of fresh air. If you’re wondering if it’s worth it, it is.

The absolute best! Dr G and Dr Seckin as well as the staff were amazing. My surgery was successful with no complications and a year and a half later I have an amazing baby boy because of them. I don’t even have the words to say…I couldn’t be more grateful.

I’m about 3 months post op and I can’t recommend Drs. Chu, Goldstein, and Seckin enough. They were the first providers to truly acknowledge my symptoms and provide a solution that focused on improving my quality of life AND protecting my fertility as much as possible. I feel like a completely different person and I’m eternally grateful. They truly are experts in their field.

Hello Simone, thank you for your inquiry. We are not contracted with any insurance plans, but we will work with plans that allow you to go out-of-network and out-of-state. However, we cannot guarantee coverage by your insurance.

How expensive is a typical visit not including health insurance?

Hi Lauren, I think every patient is different but most likely a first consult would be $500 or more. The best way to find out is to call the office and give them your info to quote a price.
