This Campground can be seen on Google Map with a "tent icon". Nowhere on the website does it say RV only. You will arrive here to see a big sign that says no tents. Drove way out of my way to the only Campground in the area.. that does not allow camping

Yes, this is a no frills campground, so if you are looking for campground activities and amenities, you will want to look elsewhere. However, we did not find it to be a dump as stated in some reviews. We were in route to FL and wanted a place to stay for a few days while we did some sightseeing in the general area. South Newport Campground filled that need adequately. It's just a few miles conveniently off I-95. Cindy, the owner, was quite nice and helpful. When we called about availability, she said she had a 30 amp site which would work for us. When we arrived she told us she had a 50 amp site just become available that she thought would be a better site for us with the size of our rig, a 36 ft 5th wheel. We paid for 4 nights (cash is required) and had a sizeable, level "home" base for several days of sightseeing. Great wifi & a number of TV channels! The day we planned to leave brought heavy rain and wind so we decided not to travel that day. Cindy was gracious when we called her about staying another day/night. We were grateful to be able to not have to prep, hook-up, and travel in the nasty weather.

Just a quick overnight stay on our way back home to Florida. The owner couldn't have been nicer getting us settled in after dark. Beautiful setting among oak trees, peaceful and relaxing.

Great place.. friendly people. lots are small very lil room to yourself.. owner is most awesome person you will meet.. quiet location
