A great museum right in our town! So much history and our kids have a fun time every time we visit.

What a wonderful little jewel in Scotia New York. I mean the interior isn't a big classic museum, it's converted hanger space with a few examples of world war 1 airplanes. There is also the fuselage of the Lockheed Electra that was used in the filming of a movie about Amelia Earhart. Then there is a second building that has a huge model of the Japanese aircraft carrier akagi that was used in the filming of Tora Tora Tora. Also they have a couple of rooms dedicated to NASA and rocketry. But outdoor in the jet garden is where the big stuff is. Besides the half scale SST they have on a pedestal out in front, they have quite a few examples of Cold war era military jets. All of them are somewhat weather beaten but you can walk right up to them and put your hands on some historic metal. If you happen upon a wonderful guide like we do (Peter B. ) They will open the UH1 Iroquois and let you sit in the cockpit, also will let you into the mig 17 if you are lucky.

A true gem. And probably the best kept secret in Capital District. The planes, history and staff exceeded expectations. The Saturday breakfast lecture with the Thunderbolt A-10 pilot was simply amazing. The authentic aircraft, cockpits and simulator will entertain all ages. This place is a MUST to visit. Highly recommended!
