Great park with a walking trail. Has a baseball field, tennis and basketball courts. Love the new playground area. We visit this park quite often

Seen this turtle today on our walk in the park. I hope he made it home safe. I did see a young man holding him when I was leaving. I hope he let him go.

The park is MASSIVE! Everything is so far apart, except the baseball fields. My kids just started playing baseball this year & this is where they practice. The 1st time it took us about 15 minutes to find the fields & another 30 to find the right one. But all in all it's a great place

This park is unique from others in the area. This one has updated and inclusive features. Great family friendly outing! Aside from the playground there is ample space, picnic tables, and lush grass to relax. The pool is awesome as well! I wish there was a dog park here though.

There are no gates.
I believe the construction was completed last October https://www.lexingtonky.gov/news/10-21-2019/new-playground-shillito-park-officially-open-and-ready-fun
They have them but I would check with the City of Lexington Parks department about using the shade. Every City has different rules for park facilities use.
Yes there is playground equipment but it closes at dusk
Not really. They tore it down because it was becoming increasingly unsafe and was about five years past it's expected life. Parks and Rec has had the project out to bid a few times but it is bidding so far out of budget. They have a set amount of funds available, but this even exceeds that. The latest information was that they will utilize the community to help with the rebuild, and it may be fall or spring before complete.
The old playground has been taken down. The new playground is supposed to go up this summer, but hasn't been started yet.
Call parks and rec or Lex Call #311
