Big Surf

Officially closed for construction thru 2022 for about 2 miles heading north-you can head south thru tunnel just over a mile to Greenway' current end at Legends (?) Park in Clayton. There's a long paved spur trail adjoining the Greenway thru yet another massive under construction subdivision (!#$/!) so plenty of opportunity to improvise longer distances there and in Clayton (the graveyard etc).

A very peaceful and nicely done new addition to the trail. There have been very few people on it every time we've been on it. I think the only downside to this trail is the fact that it looks like a housing development is going in right next to a chunk of the trail meaning it won't be the nice green secluded area for long.

Nice shaded parking lot with porta johns to access the greenway. Walking from this parking area to the Parking area for Clayton River Walk is about a 4.75 mile round trip. A new tunnel is under construction to extend the greenway to Legend Park.

Love this section of the Neuse River Greenway. Great bike and walking trail. Nice views of the river from bridges.
