Excellent small park. I hiked the trail around the lake; it was well maintained and well worth the effort. The visitor center provided a complete history of the park and the geologic history of the Carolina Bay lakes, of which Jones Lake is one. Very nice developed picnic area. I did not visit the camping area. I have visited a couple of times and it has not been busy.

We loved this small campground. Each site has plenty of room - no rows of trailors. You are surrounded by nature instead! Beautiful large lake. Plenty of rangers patrolling the area. Great trails. Very quiet. Unfortunately, we did see a large political flag displayed.

It's a lovely state park and I enjoyed my time hiking the Bay Trail. Visiting this Carolina Bay lake gives you some nice views. It could use some work on the trail but they have to deal with flooding from rainstorms. Also, the Mountains-to-Sea Trail goes through part Jones Lake State Park.

This park is fantastic. I love the trails, and the views are simply breathtaking. Sunsets are gorgeous here. The park is pleasant anytime of the year. I would certainly recommend some type of bug spray with DEET in the warmer months, as the bugs can get very pestering. The map says that the Bay trail is 5 mi, but it's more like 4.10 miles.

Yes pets are welcome. Its a beautiful park to take the whole family to. Please pick up after your group so no one is stepping in their poop.
Yes.As far as I know you will be able to swim with mo cost.
You can also go out in the woods where the trees have fallen and they have firewood there
I don't think so
Admission is free. Adequate parking. Nice trails. Good place to picnic.
The park is closed to public swimming during the winter months. Thats mostly what trespassing refers to. That and being in the protected state forest without permission. Its open to the public most the year for walking trails, swimming, etc. Jones Lake is a conservation effort to preserve local wetlands and wildlife. Its not just a swimming hole anymore. Its got so much more to offer. I personally love the trails.
Close to the lake, yes. Around the lake, no.
They're well-spaced, definitely not as close together as at most KOAs or RV "resorts". You can see your neighbors but you can't hear their conversations.
License always needed. May or may not be available in the visitor center. I assume so.
I have been out to Jones Lake camping several times in the past years and never had a oblem with anyone bothering me. It was awesome everytime and this is one of my go to spots for relaxation and ultimate privacy. I suggest amping site number 11. Its very private.
