I had an appointment by phone at 11:00 am and the lady was very kind. She told me to come to this location to show some documents. I have been waiting for more than two hours now. I asked the male guard to please check my number in case I missed it. He asked inside and told me that I had to continue waiting, that I had an appointment on 11:00 am and I missed and I should tell him as soon as I came. I tried to explain that I attended the appointment and they sent me here, but he did not let me talk, he was talking over me, and rolled eyes when I tried to explain. He made me feel like a dumb. There was no need to. It would be nice to use our taxes to hire kind people.

Absolutely horrible and discourteous service even from the supervisor. First female rep I spoke to named Reiser actually laughed at my situation and was unwilling to help from the start. I explained my difficult circumstance and that I had plenty documentation verifying my date of birth but was very quick talk over me and not help at all. Suggested I order another copy of birth certificate which is very expensive and takes over 90 days and I already explained to her I only have 60 days left in the country before I relocate over seas. I asked for her supervisor and a male came on the phone and I tried to reiterate the urgency and situation that is not my fault. They are the ones who had my birth date wrong in the system. He was more polite but still not willing to help at all and just wanted to pass on my issues to someone else (Jimenez- supervisor). After I asked to speak to his supervisor he said fine and put me through on a ringing line for over 15 minutes with nobody picking up. Terrible service for something so simple. I wish my tax dollars were actually used to hire people that are competent and actually want to help instead of laughing at you over the phone. Unbelievable how awful they treated me.

While I'm no expert, the rule has generally been that men become eligible at age 65, and women, at 62. Congress recently changed that to a scale based on data of birth, gradually raising the age of eligibility to, I believe, 67. Now whether surviving spouses are subject to these requirements is another matter. I would suggest that you, or someone you trust, go to the Social Security Website, or accompany you to your local Social Security office, to get an answer. In the meantime, I will also do some checking, and, what I find out, I will post here. Please keep in mind that you are dealing with a government and a bureaucracy, and, while most of the people there are sincere and want to help you, some are incompetent, or for various reasons, couldn't care less about you and just want to collect a paycheck. This is unfortunate and sad, but true. This is also true of a number of organizations, public and private. Speaking as a former government employee and citizen, this is true.
Go to the Social Security Administration of your town. Tell the clerk that you need a new SS card. He will ask you for your SS #. In order to look you up in the system. Take your passport or citizenship certificate with you, for he may require prove of ID. Give him the reason as to why you need a new one wether you loss the old one or it was stolen... In 14 business day you will be receiving your new card with no major complications whatsoever.
No but I suggest it it can take some time to be seen on the day you go

Replacement social security cards, including name changes, are always free. You'll need the gold sealed certified final judgment from the court (court order), a valid picture id with current photo (passport, state id, driver's license), birth certificate (if born in PR you need to make sure you have the new ones that are blue bordered and have a water mark from the 2000s), and there was one more I believe but can't remember. They have a website with all of the information on their .gov site.
For disability any age. For retirement age 62 or 65 or even 70
