My first experience with OneBlood was to donate via appointment at their Big Red Bus. When the bus did not show, I was able to find a nurse wandering around who told me that the bus was late. I waited an hour, donated. I was not impressed with the cleanliness, but I lived. My second experience was via appointment at Planet Fitness. They told me and the 3 others scheduled for that time that we would just have to wait. I left. My third experience was a drive to a nearby town two days ago with appointment. I got there and was told to reschedule. I opted to reschedule for today for the Big Red Bus at 9:00. There is a sign up front that there is a drive today, but the bus did not show. No email, no call, no bus, no nurse, just nothing. For the CEO making over $600k a year, you have failed. For the board that hired this person, you are coding not only your reputation but also lives due to your failure to restructure, recruit and PAY people to get this done. I don’t receive my “free gifts”, I just try and donate. You make it impossible. Shame on you all.

It is strictly donation but every now and then they have promotions like free movie tickets and t-shirts
Hi Dave! Thank you for reaching out to us. OneBlood is a not-for-profit organization and regulated by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Volunteer donors remain the only source of blood for patients in need. FDA regulations prohibit blood centers from paying donors for their lifesaving donations. However, it is common for us to recognize donors by offering special promotional items such as t-shirts, coupons, discount tickets or gift cards. The availability of these items may change or may not always be available to donors depending on the specific promotion or location.
You don't pay to donate blood, platelets or plasma. You also don't get paid to donate (although there are occasional free gifts like T-shirts, cups, koozies, movie passes, Hickory Crawdads tickets, etc.).
It all depends on where you go to donate. If your a first time donor most places pay you $50 the first 5 visits. CLS plasma, telecrisis, I know they pay that and sometimes run even better promotions. Octapharma plasma in Charlotte does $75 first time donating then next 3 50$ then 5th 75$ again. After the five donations then it goes based on your weight.. so it could be 15$ to $40 also depends on if they're running promos. Hope this helps.
