Great question...I have a friend who will be retiring in another year and has chosen to put his house on the market now because of the current high seller's market. He will chose to rent for a year to benefit from the high appreciation of his house, rather than wait in the uncertainty and possibly losing the opportunity. Benefit from the appreciation of the house now, if you can...one can sense a shift already happening in the market ...so 2 yrs from now... I don't think so.
Selling after 25 years can be emotional and downright overwhelming. However with guidance, planning and knowing that help will be needed to physically declutter and organize you will be ahead of the game.
This current real estate market's inventory is rather low, and the invisible hand of supply and demand is really pushing the higher home prices. Lower interest rates and the demand for a 'staycation' backyard are all factors pushing higher home prices. Some sellers have decided to sell, specifying a 4 month possession giving themselves more time to find the required smaller home. Other sellers have decided to seize the opportunity to maximize the selling price of their home, so they have chosen to sell and then rent for a year, giving themselves more time to find a home.
