If you want to live with roaches and mouses this is the perfect place to stay. In winters don't be surprised once you go and stand in shower tub and there won't be hot water at all. This place is horrible to live, my whole bedroom had small insects coming from vent. Every other day I was going to leasing office for these issues. Stay away from this place.

These apartments aren't located in NJ but in any third world country please don't ever think to go there. Unimaginable management.

My wife and I got married and began our lives in parkwood for over 2 years. This was our experience. Let's start with the Pros: Location- Next to a beautiful park. My wife and I enjoyed our daily walks around the lake. Near the menlo park mall and plenty of places to eat and shop. Parking- we lived way in the back and always had multiple spots available for us. Apartment layout- we had plenty of space and enjoyed our upstairs balcony. Price- very low priced unit with water and heating included. Laundry- although laundry wasn't in unit, it was available next building over and was clean and recently updated. Pest control- pest control will come if you sign up for it ahead and there treatment is effective for a few months. Maintenance- they would respond to our issues relatively timely. There was one maintenance guy who was specifically not friendly, but generally they were not mean. Train- we lived on the west side and so the train would come by our window, which we enjoyed listening to and watching. It was far enough away it wasn't loud. Deer- we enjoyed watching the deer walk around outside our window almost every day Now for the cons...: Pests- Roaches were always an issue for us. Pest control would come and get rid of them for a few months but they came back. Before we moved out there was even a mouse that appeared a few weeks before we left. And there was some animal living in the roof above us (could have been the same mouse) Weed- our downstairs neighbors smoked CONSTANTLY and we liked to sleep with the windows open but after they started smoking that was no longer an option for us. Not only our downstairs neighbors but I feel like half the town would smoke in the back corner of the complex and it would all come straight in our window. Rent payment- rent had to be mailed in by check, there was no online option which was very inconvenient. Office- the ladies at the front desk were always friendly and tried to help, but they couldn't help much. Any big issues had to go to Michelle at corporate who was IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of. Noise- the trash truck would come early in the morning and was super loud, again we couldn't sleep with the windows open. People would sit in the parking lot playing music in their car or yell at their dogs late at night or early in the morning and wake us up often. Neighbors would sometimes play loud music for hours at a time. Heat- we were told a window AC unit was not allowed, even though we saw many apartments with a window unit. With the weed and noise we had to sleep with the windows closed and it was brutal in the summer. As we were preparing to move out, our heater started just running constantly and we couldn't turn it off. Trash- we lived by the dumpsters and there was always trash all over the parking lot. And there was a huge dumpster where maintenance threw things away and there were always couches and fridges just all over. Overall my wife and I believe the price was worth the experience, but there are plenty of pros and cons to living there.
