An Albany hidden gem! Spread via word of mouth by those in the know, this speakeasy embodies the rum-running days of Prohibition. Ring the doorbell on the unmarked door under City Beer Hall and those who wait will be rewarded. At absolutely no point inside can you use your cellphone, fostering an atmosphere of fun socialization with your neighbor at the bar. Highly recommend making a reservation (for tables and couches), as those without are the first to be turned away on a busy night. This is not a place to bring a large (more than 4) group. The craft cocktails live up to and exceed every expectation. Go on a week night and you'll be rewarded with more personal service from one of the knowledgeable bar tenders, who might whip up a custom drink for you. They take pride in their creations, and it's worth branching out past your G + T comfort zone. A live music trio in the evenings completes the thoroughly authentic 20s vibe.

So happy that Emanuel is back, what a great bartender! This is a really great spot for live jazz (no cover charge), unique drinks (or get the usual stuff) and a terrific 1920/30s atmosphere. Always a favorite spot. Mixed crowd of young to older folks, usually a bit more dressed up than what you find at the usual bar. I suggest making a reservation as it can be a challenge to get seats Fri Sat. Small and quaint. Great bar and cozy atmosphere. Food choices as well. You’ve got City Beer Hall upstairs if you need a more lively atmosphere and a free small pizza with every drink, not a bad deal. Tends to be a younger crowd the later you go with a very casual picnic table style atmosphere that’s gotten so popular. Same owner upstairs and down. Enjoy!!

Great service with great drinks. Was accommodated even though I arrived without a reservation with 4 friends. Overall we really enjoyed the decor, the drinks and the live jazz band. Would definitely come back. Be aware that the drink prices are a bit expensive but are well worth it.

Love this joint! Cocktails are potent, I do not recommend more than two in a given night (drink plenty of water!) if you're driving. Free local music throughout the week and dancing on Tues. nights. Great spot for a date or to simply impress friends and coworkers. Love the originality of the menu for cocktails and food - both old fashioned and modern drinks offered with inventive, original ingredients.

Attire is more towards formal. They won't let you in with shorts and a tee shirt. Pants and a button-up works every time tho. As it's a bar, unless you make special arrangements with the barkeep, nobody under the legal drinking age is permitted inside.
No, 21 and up only
You don't need a reservation, but it is highly recommended. You may not get in without one
