Absolutely loved this trail! The mix of pine and deciduous trees made a delightful canopy over almost all of the trail we rode. That allowed us to ride much later into the warm afternoon! The campsites are great, with firewood stacked and ready! We did not camp, but stayed in motels on after each S. Carolina ride. This would be my favorite trail with 5 stars if South Carolina would put 2”-3” of 1 minus.(fines) crushed limestone on it, the small stone base layer is exposed and loosening so trail is rough. Be careful on some bridges, loose or warped boards could be a problem.

The BEST TRAIL HEAD off of the "Palmetto Trail" so far!!!Only been to Pomaria and this one. It was absolutely beautiful. The trestle over the river is RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING of the trail. Also, at the beginning of the trestle is a huge board with a map in it to help There are brochures and activities to interest people and Kids OF ALL AGES! As soon as I stepped on the trestle I saw a river otter who disappeared before I could get a picture. Saw many hawks, beautiful birds, and 100s of turtles. Plan to make this a weekly hike!! My new favorite spot and wish it was a secret🤣🤐🤔
