My daughter and I took advantage of the service last year. Yesterday they did my installation and everything is going well so far, but my daughter had problems with the installers that the solar service contracted. She spent more than 6 hours without doing anything on the roof and they were trying to make a design change with the company because they spent less work in the end, my daughter did not authorize the change and neither did the company because they left without doing anything, we have also been requesting the engineering design that Palmeto does according to the sunset for 2 weeks to guarantee the greatest time of sunlight which is supposed to be sent to you before the installation and no response has been received we have not communicated with the project coordinator who seems to turn a deaf ear also with the customer success of the solar program and neither no response has been received, to this day we are still waiting for the document, now they are asking for a new bill for a restructuring of the design because the bill they used is She was 6 months old when mine was 3 months old, every time they call her it's a different story and they don't know what else to make up. Now I cannot sell my SRECT because my system is prepaid when the contract does not mention anything about this nor does the Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC) guide, there are many things that this company hides just to sell and defraud the owners. An employee named Sandra called me concerned about the review with the same promises as always to solve the problem and as always stay at nothing, do not be fooled by companies like this that defraud the owners.

I had some good work done by these folks back in 2020, so when I had a squirrel build a nest in my panels I called them again. Such a runaround: I left two requests on their webpage that offered "pest abatement"; no response. I called . . . and was directed to that web page. When I told them of the two requests, I was told to dial yet another phone number for reasons unknown. They told me they would "see what they would do" and couldn't do the work without a work order from Palmetto. Palmetto seems unwilling/unable to create such a thing. Edited to add, after Palmetto says that I am not a customer . . . I am indeed a customer, after they did some work on my panels in 2020.

If you're looking to have nice, shiny new solar panels installed on your roof, this is the company to use. If you're looking to have nice, shiny new solar panels installed on your roof that ACTUALLY GENERATE ELECTRICITY, this is not the company to use. They make every promise in the book to get you as a customer, but when your system is supposed to be activated, you'll hear noting from them. When you call them, if they bother to answer, they'll inform you that they don't actually have access to the monitoring program to troubleshoot your system, but they'll promise they'll "work on it" and "get back to you." Take a wild guess on whether that actually happens. Meanwhile, you'll be paying both your regular electric bill and the bill to pay for the system that isn't actually generating electricity, so be prepared to, at minimum, double what you were paying bettor making the mistake to go with Palmetto solar. They also won't switch you to the new "backup provider" at a lower rate to cover any electricity the system doesn't generate like they promised they would when installing your system because, if they can't actually install a system that generates electricity, why should they bother doing anything else they promise? For that, they'll tell you to send an email to one of their departments, but don't hold your breath on getting a response. Be warned, you won't have a system that actually generates electricity, but you will get to pay for it while also paying your current electricity provider for electricity not generated by your nice, shiny new solar panels.

Update: Looks like they dropped the ball on my appointment transfer and it never got passed down the line. They looked at my past call and text history and found that it was lost on their end and took full responsibility. Mistakes happen, and I offered to pay the permit fees that happened post cancellation. They told me not to worry about it and they would take care of everything. Luis Leos was a rep that THOROUGHLY looked into this and did a great deal of diligence to find where the mistake happened on Palmetto's side. He was courteous, professional, and overall just outstanding. A call from him (and the service manager) turned this one-star into a four-star based on how they handled everything. The contractors that were hired are what gave me most of the sour taste with the experience. Tried to bully me into somehow letting them do work while I wasn't there (don't ask me how that would even work) and became threatening over the phone. Wish I knew who these contractors were so everyone knows to stay away from them.

Questions & Answers

When viewing the solar production on the Palmetto dashboard, what is the significance of the plus figure, e.g. 9.0kWh + 3.9 ?

Hello Bob, thank you for reaching out. The +3.9kWh is how much over the average you have produced. For your example you were showing 9.0kWh produced. Under the bar at the top of the app it shows an average depending on your view. With these numbers I am assuming the view is for day. This would mean directly under the bar there would be a "daily average" with these numbers you have provided that daily average would have shown 5.1kWh which means at the time you saw this you were averaging 5.1kWh per day. At that time of the day you had actually produced 9.0kWh which means you were +3.9kWh over the average.

We're glad to hear that you're interested in learning more about solar power! We don't currently have an online workshop, but we think this is a great video that explains how solar energy works, and why solar is so important for the future of our planet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inPtRWtvDaM
