This quarry produces a white speckled granite. They have provided a lot of stones for architecture projects, but I use them for gravel. The white stones don't get as hot in the summer, and really make a driveway look good. They sell gravel by size, so sometimes the size isn't available, but they've been good about following up when available. Oh, and if you're in town and haven't ever been to the "hole", it's quite impressive.

Our kids loved seeing the quarry and the machines in action. We didn't get to hear the blasts but had fun anyway!

My great grandfather worked there in the early 1930s. Palmiro Rossi. He carved the words on the Wright Brothers Monument while employed there. My grandfather, Ronald Rossi, is 93 and told me all about living across from quarry when he was a kid and you would hear the blasts.

"The Rock" as locals call it, the Granite Quarry is the largest open-faced granite quarry in the world and is really interesting to see from the observation area where you might be surprised to hear a blast from explosions that are set off from time to time during the work day. It's a pretty expansive sight - beautiful white stone with black flecks stretching out before you!
