Twice now my physician has left the practice. When this happens you're treated like a new patient. I can't get an appointment "to establish as a new patient" until Nov 21st. It's currently Aug 22nd. 3 months for a patient who's been a patient for years is disgusting. All of the other reviews seem to indicate that you can't get an appointment for days. I guess it's no wonder that 2 people have left in 3 years.

Have been seen here for medicals iss ues for years and never had a problem being seen the same day when I needed to be seen. The last three times I have called I was not able to be seen for 3-4 days. Had to go to urgent care. Why have a primary doctor if they are so booked they cannot see you when you are sick? I will be searching for a new primary that can see me when I am sick. Very disappointed in this practice!

I called in stating that I have multiple infections I've been dealing with and needed to see my doctor as soon as possible. I was told I couldn't get an appointment for another 3 weeks even for a sick visit. What the hell is the point of having a doctor you can't even see when you need them? How well do you think I'll be after another 3 weeks with multiple infections?? I paid $160 for a visit to establish a GP that I can't even see when I'm sick!!!

I have seen Dr Cunningham and Dr Dean and both are wonderful! I cannot say enough good things. Great bedside manner and genuine, caring attitudes. Exactly what you look for in a PCP. The office staff is very kind too!

Questions & Answers

Do I need a referral from my primary doctor in order to be a patient?

A lot depends on your insurance. I am on Medicare and do not need referrals, although my PCP is also in the MUSC system. I will tell you, when you need a specialist, even with a referral, it takes a while to see the dr. Once you are under that doctor's care, they have an amazing system to use called "My Chart" to see your test results, email the dr, get refills, see upcoming appointments, etc. It is well worth it. The cardiology department at MUSC saved my life.
