This was my first visit to the association however I felt right at home. Being legally blind in a non-blind world I've had to adapt to my surroundings quickly and try my best to keep up. Here there is no rush. Everyone is doing what they can at their own pace and I love it.

I can't say enough good things about this institution. Prior to receiving my SSDI approval, The Assoc of the Blind was a lifesaver. During my almost 3 year wait for my disability approval, they performed 2 thorough eye exams at no cost to me. I also was able to get new glasses with bifocals lenses at no cost. The only 2 complaints I have is that they dilate your eyes prior to picking out your glasses. This makes it difficult to see what kind of frames you're looking at. The first pair of glasses were high quality and lasted for 2 years. The next pair of frames were awful. Within 2 months of receiving them they broke. I ended up purchasing a new pair from Walmart.

EXCELLENT PLACE! All of the staff here are AmAzInG! They are very very kind and helpful. Once a month they have an "eye clinic" where you can be referred to by various healthcare clinics when you do not have vision insurance. They will check your eyes for glaucoma, Retinopathy, astigmatisms, cataracts, and assist with lenses and frames! They also hold events for people with visual impairments too! It is a wonderful place and resource for people with visual impairments or people that are blind :)
