My first trip to this park was a little over a yr ago. It appeared to have recently been battled some storm as we found it blocked off with overgrown patches, lots of tree limbs scattered around it's few small structures in disrepair. My whole family was Excited to find it the rich expedition history behind this place. A love of reading, travel, and history can lead to some great family outings so I enjoyed learning something new n close to our home. Mins later as daylight was fading fast, w the darkening clouds a chill of cool brushes my skin. A light wind that sent a tickling change thru me. Stronger than when our trees breath out life for us, it felt like a existential spirit of another demision had just bumped into me. I wondered if perhaps a deck hand or crew of the Lewis and Clark group had fallen Ill or any tramatic or strange stories are told leading to the sinister sound of the name? Riding to show my relatives the beauty of this area in general, I did the trip thru again, happy to see the park opened back up. It was inviting and appeared to have either a grounds keeper or Campers already in a spot. Its was great to see the place being preserved so well. We didn't stop with the drive back, but I was fixing to pull for the idea by suggesting we get out a min. Family had a long drive and I was being shot down as an officer rolled up. He seemed to be mean muggin? Lol 2 Old to even run from ghosts I think it's hard to get further chilled than myself. 😅

Really cool that it's right off the river.

We love coming here it's a small family oriented place to sit back and relax. Your right on the river you can watch the barges all hours of the day or night. The people who run it are very sweet and polite. Shower house and bathrooms are clean. It's just a great place to visit

20$ a night. We are closed as of now. Lots of damage has been done by the flood and we are slowly getting it together. You can follow us on Facebook to keep up with updates on opening
Yes all pull throughs. No frills camping
Its a campground right on the Mississippi River. It had showers and a wonderful campground. This is a very rare place for a Mississippi River paddler to find. There is a small convenience store about a mile away. Dramatic rock outcrops; a historic town that was quite large and prosperous at one time.
