Folks are rude and don’t help at all

I made the mistake of attempting to use the Richmond County Probate Court to receive my marriage license. I called a couple days in advance to ensure I completed everything necessary to make my visit quicker/ easier. They gave me the information needed and told me that they closed at 4 on weekdays. Today, I showed up with my fiancé at the Richmond County Probate court at 2 PM. Upon walking into the office, the woman sitting at her desk did not acknowledge me. Upon walking up to her window, she told me that she could not help me because they were closing. I informed her that I had called ahead prior to this visit, completed the online form and was informed by an employee that they closed at 4. She was incredibly attitudinal and informed me that she could not help me. If you are reading this and considering using Richmond County Probate court, save yourself the time and effort and go somewhere where you’ll be treated with respect.

I encountered the rudest woman in the Probate Court office today. She wouldn’t even look at me or answer any of my questions. All I was trying to do is get information about what I need to get my WCL application completed. I told her the website it’s outdated based on the information she gave me and she wouldn’t even respond. Terrible customer service!

I agree the customer service skills definitely need improvement. I made 5 trips to the probate office to get paperwork filed and each time got different information. Just when I thought I had it right I went back and got a different clerk and different instructions. They were not helpful in any way. Felt like they were on a mission to make it as hard as they could to complete the paperwork. Mission accomplished.
