Nice park with interesting history and access to the river. My only complain is that there was no water access nearby. There were only 2 tap water access. We ended up collecting all our empty mineral water bottles and went to the water source to bring water to the camp site.

The campground is well marked, and maintained. They allow reservations. We went last weekend and it was NOT smoky. We feared it might be smoky because of a forest fire in that region. There was a fire ban in effect at that time. We got campsite number 16. It was a bit rugged and was hard to find an even spot for pitching tents. It was close to a restroom but not too close to any geographical feature (lake/river/view). The walk to a nearby river is 5-10 minutes long. We had two 4-person tents, one 2-person tent, and 3 cars...and we did not have space issues. Overall it's a decent clean well maintained campground. But did not find it exceptional or excellent in any way.

Would stay again! I only didn't give 5 stars because it didn't have the best amenities of the camp grounds I've stayed at. I definitely wish there were more water pumps. And the bathrooms were small with only 1 shower in each (1 for men, 1 for women). But the bathroom stayed clean and never ran out of soap! The river is great to wade in to stay cool! We got lucky with the campsite we got, even though it was one of the last ones left, because ours had privacy. But I did notice a lot of the spots were not as nice as ours. Like a lot of them were connected to the neighboring spot without being fully covered by shrubbery. So would absolutely stay again but it's not my #1 favorite campground.

Beautiful little area, great camp sites, beautiful little river, nice clean bathrooms, the on site host could be a bit friendlier... And knowledgeable ( I don't think he has camped much)

Yes you can. It was about $30. If you register online make sure you get the right one. There are two Lewis and Clark campgrounds in Washington and one is much farther north. Our neighbor made that mistake and never got a full refund for that.
They are always full on the weekends. But we arrived on a Sunday without reservations. Are site luckily wasn't reserved. The rangers were awesome to help us reserve the site for 3 days. Good people.
I don't think so but I don't know
Follow Highway 12 north through Waitsburg for about 25 minutes. The picnic area is on the right and the campground is directly across Highway 12 on the left. Camp far away from the RV waste disposal station because it is VERY mosquito infested.
