Lovely place to hike with a medium parking lot , Not too busy in early mornings and a trail made for cars with incline to the hill.

This is a nice secluded park with minimal foot traffic. the uphill in the beginning is worth it and the walk evens out after. There are some beautiful views!

We only made it passed the gate of the trail, but it was all my 2 year old needed to play in the snow and sled

A nice hike that had hardly any hikers on it. Great for bringing a dog, ample parking, definitely pay attention to the directions on maps as it is one lane and looks like you're going onto private property. Whether you start from the left or the right side of the trail you go uphill for quite a ways, I wouldn't say one side is easier to go up than the other. Lots of great trees to look at and a viewpoint or two of the lake.

Is camping permitted? How long can you stay?

Only at the campground on HWY 28. 2 weeks max, I think.

Is the creek safe for kids?

No creeks really are safe. This time of year there can be standing water pools that have high rates of bacteria in them, animal feces, decaying materials etc. Only play in active (moving) water as at least then things are moving. That being said as a kid I played in creeks. So I'd say use your own judgment and watch the kids.
