I met and fell in love with Jesus here and have been on a good path since 2014. Yes it’s hard and no you are not a “patient” you are considered a student, a disciple of Jesus, the only true Healer. Which is why there is much fewer staff than students, they are there to keep order in some sense not to heal you, just to walk alongside you and pray with you while you seek Jesus for your healing from mental health struggles and addictions. It is definitely not a cult but I heard many people refer to it as one and walk out while I was there. Now I just think it’s funny but I do pray they all found Jesus somehow along their journey. They do not turn anyone away or kick anyone out for lack of funds, many women go through the whole program without paying a dime! You are considered a guest for the first thirty days so that, like many other programs, they and you can determine if it’s the appropriate place for you. This is all explained to you in the intake process before you even get there. We sang in choir, read the Bible all the way through, worked on various jobs around the campus, read many other books, and actually had a lot of fun! We had so many awesome opportunities to serve in the city and also just have down time and joke around. I made amazing friends that I still talk to. I was dope sick for my first few weeks and all the other women were very sympathetic and treated me as a sister and I did the same for new women coming in. We definitely did talk about our struggles and pray together. I felt welcomed and as though I belonged as soon as I got there. I had signed up for only 6 months but as I sat in a service in the chapel on a Sunday night I felt like God was urging me to finish strong and I knew I needed it so I signed up to stay the whole year and I’m so glad I did, my life is so much better for it! I learned to look at why I turned to drugs and alcohol in the first place, I learned how to cope with life without the use of drugs and alcohol and most of all I learned how to look at myself the way God sees me, as His precious daughter!

If it wasn't for this home I don't think I wouldn't have the life I have today. I was not religious when I walked through the doors 5 years ago in Pasadena California. But I knew I had been in the depths of hell and I knew that there had to be a God out there because I was still alive. They welcomed me with open arms I had not a cent to my name. They love me when no one else would. Most of all I developed a relationship with Jesus Christ. It was a personal one and not something somebody told me I had to have. I made a choice to accept Him. I'm reading some of the reviews posted and I am saddened that some of them didn't have the same experience. The experience I had here was a life-changing experience and I was never forced to do anything. Maybe the structure could have been hard for some but that's something that personally I had been lacking in my life for so long. The whole time I was there I paid my way through fundraising and was grateful to be able to contribute to something that was saving my life. They gave us so much there when you get in from the streets and have no clothes they clothe you, and when you get in from the streets and are hungry they feed you, when you need someone to care they care, Jesus is there seek and you will find.
