It's a great library they have a children's section and it's age appropriate. They just got a little snack section in the library and it's always clean. They also have a park and a water park in summer. They have a dog park as well. Family oriented place great books and an awesome library.

The board voted to remove all LGBTQIA Pride displays from the Children's section; this is not an inclusive library space. Public libraries are meant to innovate, not take 20 steps back.

I used to be proud to be from Long Island but the decision to remove LGBTQ+ books from the children's section is shameful. Libraries should be a safe space for children.

Unfortunately, I don't know. Maybe the library will know.
We have several tables at our Nesconset Building. We also have a quiet study room in the back of the building that can be used on a first come basis.
The Library does not have trick or treating throughout the day. All of our buildings do have programs today and some include trick or treating. All of our programs have age limits and require registration. Here is the list of the today's programs for Children: https://search.livebrary.com/iii/calendar/list/C&D=10-31-2019&P=%7C2&R=62;jsessionid=8F6FE8BE3B7F0BE9194BA3BBAF2C7C16?lang=eng&suite=62
Geri - We have many Children's programs for all ages. Here is a link to the Children's Department section of the Library's website. https://smithlib.org/children.html At the top you can click on Programs and then choose which building you would like to go to. You can also call us at (631) 360-2480 with any questions.
The sprinkler park is run by the Town of Smithtown Park Department. To contact them you can call (631) 269-1122. They would be able to provide you with the hours.
I believe the Park is open all the time till sunset. You can call and ask.
Ellen - The grounds that are behind the Nesconset Building are property of the Town of Smithtown. During certain time of the year, they do have someone at the booth checking for town stickers. You can contact the Town of Smithtown Parks Department for more information about that. Any resident can come to the Library, but if you are not a Smithtown Library cardholder there are some restrictions on what you can check out and what programs you can attend. You will need a library card from your home library to check out material and register for programs. Feel free to call us at (631) 360-2480 if you have any more questions.
You can find all of our programs on our website at: https://smithlib.org/children.html or you can call (631) 360-2480.
You can reserve a book by calling the Reference Desk at any of our buildings or online through the catalog. Here is a link on how to reserve a book online: https://smithlib.org/how-do-i.html?view=article&id=480:reserve-an-item-online&catid=234 Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Patricia - We use the Overdrive app for our downloadable material. Here is the link to our downloads page: https://livebrary.overdrive.com/ For more information you can also call us at (631) 360-2480.
