While I am not a patient here now, I once was during my youth. I don't think anybody has fond memories at a hospital unless it's a day when the patients get great news. However, I do have one tender memory. Years ago, I was scheduled to have a colonoscopy on my 12th birthday. The nurses and other staff were wonderful and surprised me that morning with a bag full of gift shop goodies since my birthday was spent at the hospital! I'm pretty sure they spent their own money on everything! I still have the small tote bag and everything inside of it, and it's been almost seven years! The nurses here make it better if you have a child going through a tough time. However, the medical doctors here can be a bit frigid and could probably use a course in hospitality. Although I understand they are dealing with sick kids all day, it must be hard to be warmhearted in that environment. Honestly, the only bad experience had with any of the staff was with a doctor, but I have forgiven him and hope he was just in bad spirits the day I saw him. Thank you to all the wonderful staff here for caring for me when I was a kid.

This hospital is AMAZING! We have been here for 3 days going on 4 with our daughter. The team of doctors they have on staff are incredible! The nurses have catered to our every need! The things they have to offer the children to make their stay more pleasant is just amazing. From movies, books, toys, activities, a courtyard where they can feel safe and get some sunshine, all the food and snacks you can imagine…I have not one complaint! The nurses have gone out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at ease with every form of treatment they have given her. We are so blessed to have a hospital like this nearby. If you ever get the chance to donate to this hospital…please do! It’s a great thing that they have going here and our hats are off to all of the staff that works so tirelessly and selflessly to make sure our children are getting the absolute best care! Thank you ETCH for everything you have done for us!

Took son to children's clinic on Emory where we were referred to the hospital. Took him in with papers stating he was severely dehydrated and need fluid asap, waited 4 hours and everyone that came in after us went back before us. I asked the nurse about our wait time she said there was 6 people in front of us and all new people in the lobby after 4 HOURS??? I told them we were going to take him to a different hospital and they wrote down that he had worsening condition even though they had never seen him. Me and my wife did more for him in the waiting room than the hospital did after 4 hours of being there. I asked for a blanket for my son and they said "give them a few minutes" 2 hours later ER still no blanket. Nurse was extremely stuck up and rude. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN THERE. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND CARE MORE ABOUT People WEARING A MASK RATHER THAN HELPING CHILDREN.

Took 6 hours to get 3 stitches for my son. No excuse for that. Zero sense of urgency. Nurses are rude and care more about mask violations than kids with open wounds or broken ribs or other ailments. It a shame they spent so much money renovating the ER and not improving the service and response time for children. Utter garbage and they know they can bend us over the barrel because they are the only show in town. Avoid this place if possible. Not worth the hassle if an urgent care or after hours can do it for you.

My son was in the nicu there for 3 months with out of state insurance and seen many specialists.
Yes. They have a special NICU/PICU for Babies BORN with NAS. the neonatal nurses are very understanding, compassionate and caring. Good luck
Yes there is! Actually it's right down the street from us. You can go to https://knoxrmhc.org for more details.
Carl. thanks for your question. This page outlines the details of what we can and cannot accept as non-monetary donations to the hospital: https://www.etch.com/Giving/Non-Monetary-Donation-Guidelines.aspx I hope that helps!
Children's Hospital also helps with this if you take them to the ER
Yes. My grandson has them and is under a neurologists care. He has other issues but there is a medicine called kepra that they can use to help with the episodes.
My grandson needed crowns & surgery for an infected tooth. They sedated him for the surgery. And he is covered by Tennessee's TNCare. It wouldn't hurt to call and ask.
My grandson had never seen a doctor, never mind need any kind of surgery (he was 6 at the time). Never had a needle for an IV but the nurses and doctors, for the 3 days he was in the hospital, were very kind, caring, and thoughtful. They find ways to work with all children, from what I observed. I was rather impressed and put at ease and I hope you and your child experience the same!
Yes. But, also depending where you park and what department. ER parking and clinic parking are free. Lot C, which is visitor parking and for other offices in the hospital does charge. But usually you can get a parking voucher. So.... mostly yes
