When I first I got my veneers about 3 years ago I was a train wreck. My anxiety was through the roof. Today, I love my smile and the confidence I regained after I had my veneers put in. If you are looking for a very kind and compassionate dentist then look no further. Dr. Kazerooni is professional and know how to make you feel at ease. I've always had a bad experience (anxiety) since I was a kid but today I can happily say I've found my forever dentist. I don't need to look anymore. Dr. Kazerooni is my favorite:) Her hygienists Beatrice is also professional and very understanding. If you are nervous about anything Beatrice will literally hold your hand. I couldn't ask for a better team to have worked on my teeth and continue to every couple months. The initial patience they had with me helped me sooooo much. My fears and anxiety was through the roof. Even though I am a older man, in the dentist chair, I am like big baby unfortunately. PS: Gloria is amazing as well. She is sweet and always make me feel welcome. Dr. Kazerooni's practice is like visiting family and that's what I need when I visit the dentist. Thank you ladies for taking the stress away while visiting the dentist. My stress level went from 1000 a couple years ago down to 0 pretty much.

Questions & Answers

What causes periodontal disease and how can it be prevented?

Poor oral hygiene. But more specifically, plaque is the primary cause of periodontal disease. Plaque is a buildup of harmful bacteria and acids. When this plaque isn't removed due to poor oral hygiene and/or avoiding professional dental cleanings, it hardens and turns into calculus. This causes gingivitis, an irritation and inflammation of your gums. If left untreated, gingivitis turns into periodontitis, causing pockets between your teeth and gums that fill with bacteria. Periodontal disease is genetic, so if you have a family member with periodontal disease, you are more prone to it. That's why you need to be more proactive and do cleaning every three or four months and also use Waterpik daily. Using a laser for periodontal cleaning can be added to provide better elimination of the bacteria. How common is gum disease?

Sherry Kazerooni, DDS, LVIF | Apr 9, 2022

According to the CDC, 47.2% of adults aged 30 years and older have some form of periodontal (gum) disease. While it may seem harmless, especially considering how many people have it, the truth is it's actually very serious. Not only does periodontal disease impact your oral health, but it can also cause or aggravate overall health issues. This includes heart disease, stroke, and more! The easiest way to prevent gum disease is to brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and visit us for routine checkups and cleanings. What is the best way to whiten my teeth?

Sherry Kazerooni, DDS, LVIF | Apr 9, 2022
Sherry Kazerooni, DDS, LVIF | Apr 9, 2022

The short answer: Professional tooth whitening by a dentist. Why? It'll work better than store-bought or DIY methods. Professional teeth whitening removes intrinsic (internal) and extrinsic (surface) stains, which means whiter, even, and longer-lasting results. It's also customized to you, including your sensitivity and desired shade of white. Professional teeth whitening is held in the dental office under a controlled environment where the gingiva is isolated properly.
