Yes, IAFF Center of Excellence has an outpatient program. Outpatient treatment may be undergone on its own, or as the final stage of treatment in a complete continuum of care. Clients in outpatient treatment live off-site and receive individual and group therapeutic treatment on a part-time basis.

The IAFF Center of Excellence opened in March 2017.

Our 15-acre facility is furnished with comfortable residential accommodations and 64 beds.

All patients meet with our family therapist and their individual therapist to explore how their support system back home can be integrated into their recovery. During these outreach sessions, the client and the family therapist call the spouse, family member or support person to provide an update on the patient’s treatment, explore concerns and discuss the future. If a family member chooses to visit his/her loved one on campus, an in-person family therapy session may be scheduled, if clinically indicated.

Yes. The IAFF Center of Excellence is licensed by the State of Maryland to treat both mental health conditions and addiction. This means that we provide treatment for substance use and mental health disorders that occur on their own, as well as mental health conditions that co-occur with addiction.

Yes. However, to help our patients focus on recovery, male and female clients have separate living quarters.

Yes, smoking is allowed at The IAFF Center of Excellence. However, to help clients focus on recovery, we only allow smoking in designated locations at specific times of the day.

However, unlike IOP at other facilities, clients in this level of care at The IAFF Center of Excellence continue to live on-site full time where they can receive 24/7 access to clinical support. However, unlike PHP at other facilities, clients in this level of care at The IAFF Center of Excellence continue to live on-site full time where they can receive 24/7 access to clinical support. The IAFF Center of Excellence is licensed to treat both substance use disorders and mental health conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. Depending on each client’s individual needs, professional physicians and clinicians will create a treatment plan that incorporates different evidence-based individual and group therapy methods.

Yes, the IAFF Center of Excellence is licensed by the State of Maryland to treat both substance abuse and mental health disorders.

It’s important that you arrive at the IAFF Center of Excellence with all the clothing, hygiene products and personal items you’ll need during treatment. We recommend that new clients pack at least one week’s worth of season-appropriate clothing, as well as comfortable sleepwear, unopened hygiene products, alcohol-free mouthwash and a toothbrush. Once you enroll in a treatment program, you will receive more detailed packing recommendations, including at list of items that are not permitted at our facility.

At the IAFF Center of Excellence, clients have access to an extensive array of on-site amenities, which are available when deemed clinically appropriate by our medical staff. These include an exercise gym, swimming pool, walking trail and other outdoor recreational opportunities. More information about the amenities offered at our center can be found on our website.
