Camped here with some friends and my family. Most campsites aren't great for tent camping as many of them don't have any level grassy spots, only the gravel pad by the fire pit. We came from out of state so it was hard to know without seeing. There was poison ivy everywhere around our site, even in the kids' playground in the mulch. We tried to hike Bee Trace Trail, but it was waist high grass and everyone was covered in ticks. We thought it would have been a maintained trail but it was not. The beach was clean but very busy. Plenty of room though and everyone had fun swimming. Lots of shade at the campground and some sites are better than others. I would recommend driving around if you can before choosing a site. There's on site firewood and ice, and DNR was patrolling regularly so that was nice. It seemed that many people reserved two campsites so they had enough parking. A lot of the sites aren't big enough for a larger camper and a vehicle or two, let alone a boat as well.

Really nice lake access. The main trail is a little distance from the main park area, but nice

Went with my bf to visit his parents while they had their camper there. Not much to do if you don't have a boat. The lake is beautiful though and the beach was clean. You can fish, but good luck if you're fishing from shore, again much better with a boat. You can rent kayaks too, but no boat rental. The natural prairies with trails and conservation efforts are awesome though!

Great place! Camping is great. Nice and more to yourself Monday through Thursday. Weekends, campground is packed so reserve early. Campground hosts are very kind and helpful. Swimming beach was cleaned up Thursday night for the weekend which was a big difference from Thursday when lots of trash was on the beach. I wish people did a better job cleaning up after themselves. Lots of cigarette butts in the sand.

I highly recommend Ugo's Pizza Land at Bevier! Just five miles west of Long Branch.
The spillway or off the rocks of the bridge idk if things have changed but anywhere no one is swimming or doing alot of boating
Drones can only fly over people when operated by Licenced drone pilot and in a park requires written permission from park ranger
Yes they have shower areas by the campsites.
Yes, I hiked the Bee Trace Trail in April. It's around 7 miles long, I think, maybe a little less. Rolling hills, woods, prairie, expansive lakeshore views with cool rocks. It's in a section of the park separate from the campground, so it's quiet. It takes you down and back up a big peninsula in the lake on a loop trail, and there's an option to only do half of it by taking a short connector trail instead of continuing to the end of the peninsula. There are also shorter trails near the campground, but I have not hiked those.
You can have dogs there, but they're supposed to be kept on a 6 ft leash. Now, if you're boating, and you stop along the shore somewhere, as long as they're not bothering anyone, you can usually let them run some, but otherwise you probably better have them on a leash. ☺
They usually do a controlled burn once a year, usually in the spring
Atlanta wildlife conservation area just on the other side of AX at the end of the lake.
Cash at this time. (10/19/21)

No sites with full hookups. Water & electric at sites & a dump station when you pull in. Dogs are allowed.
It's cleaner than s lot of lakes I've seen. They do have the sign posted, that water conditions are not monitored

It is the main road going in and out of the park. Be careful. There is a lot of traffic.
