Can't be too happy when they send me home with $4500 in medical bills and tell me to "keep my dog comfortable" just hours before a major surgery since whatever they put into his body for a clinical study sent him into convulsions. The surgery was canceled and he was sent home. Confused and sad to say the least.

They are phenomenal here. So compassionate and kind. Took my French bulldog in with IVDD and unable to use his back legs. They took him in did an MRI and took him to surgery. They called us every day to keep us up dated on his condition and took the very best care of him. We are not about seven weeks post op and he is walking on his own again. Everyone here has the best heart and are just wonderful to work with. I would recommend this vet to anyone with an animal emergency.

Words or stars can't express the gratitude I have for the staff here. I came in knowing it would be the end for my best friend's life and I couldn't have asked for a better team to facilitate that heartbreaking reality. She's at rest now and at peace because of the people working here. I wish I could remember names but it's all just a blur right now. Thank you.

Poor experience with on staff vet..seemed to rush the conversations and she may have felt inconvenienced. They started IV fluids hours after my pet was in the back room. I had requested to see my pet one time before I left (hours after arrival) for the day and they hadn’t started her on fluids or do anything but let her sit there. I get there is a hierarchy of emergencies, but a standard IV is straight forward. The bill was $2k for them to give her fluid and a chem panel. Additional service charges/fees.. The emergency area was pretty creepy in the 2 exam rooms they had. In a day I witnessed them wheeling deceased dogs after euthanasia out of the exam door... in clear eye sight of others waiting in the emergency waiting area. No sheet to cover, just an erry stainless steel rinky dink cart with a dead dog on top. No reason to have dignity on their behalf. That boggled my mind & I saw others in the area say the same. Surgeon we had been in contact with seemed to have zero urgency. “I’ll be into the hospital in 5 days, IF I am, then I may assess her”.... seemed like their backs were turned. I really really have a distaste for the experience all around. I never write bad reviews, or reviews really ever. Would I go to Penn again? No I would not.

No. They are top notch and charge accordingly. If you're lookin for one, then Google low cost vet clinics and search local results. There are resources out there like humane society that can help you locate them.

How much would they charge for a Pyometra surgery? I want to make sure we have the money..

You'd have to check with HUP veterinary hospital. A 3 night stay with lab work cost about $ 5000.

I have a 70lb female German Shepherd. She is 2 years old. I am going to get her spayed. Should I do the traditional spay or the ovary sparing spaying? If ovary sparing, what are the risks of breast cancer? Thank yo Kathy
