The MLK Jr. is absolutely one of best places of the National Mall area. I love the quotes. So glad I got to visit this memorial.

57th Anniversary March on Washington
I was there a month ago. The vibe was amazing.
👌
There are parking meters in area, if you or someone you are with are not able to walk long distances
This monument is at the southern end of the park and right on the water. This means the closest hotels are in Crystal city across the river or to the north of the mall. If you mean the greater DC area there are many hotels. The closet geography after doing a quick search might be Hotel Hive 2224 F St NW Washington, DC 20037 https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hotel+Hive,+2224+F+St+NW,+Washington,+DC+20037/@38.8971882,-77.0496685,14z/data=!4m5!1m2!2m1!1sHotels!3m1!1s0x89b7b7ae1bc6cf05:0xb797d2597be47541 Here is a hotel search in the DC area https://www.google.com/maps/search/Hotels/@38.8861819,-77.0500647,13z

This memorial was built in 2011, it is the first monument there to a man of color and the fourth to someone who was not a President
The memorial is open 24 hours / 7 days a week including all holidays.
This memorial is not scheduled to be torn down. There was nothing in its place prior to its construction, so nothing was removed to make way for this memorial. It is an important part of American history and should not be removed at all. There is no "white history" and "black history," just American history. The good should be celebrated. The bad should be remembered so as not to be repeated. How that is done should be obvious.
Yes. There are posted signs for pet friendly monuments. Actually there were a lot of dogs out throughout the city.
There r Gift Shops Available 2 Purchase Different Things,We Were On A Tour Of Different Sites & Historic Places In DC & Didn't Go In Any Of The Gift Shops Accept The 1 In The Black History Museum...But All In All A Very Great Place 2 Visit & Take Pictures...We Even Did Our Own T-Shirt From Our Pic Standing In Front Of His Memorial Statue..
Marshall Purnell was the architect
That would be Chinese sculptor Lei Yixin, with help from stone carver and inscription designer Nicholas Benson!
Pink Shrimp Granite. It sparkles pink during the Cherry Blossom Season which is the most popular time to visit the MLK Memorial.
Visitors will walk through two massive white granite halves of the “Mountain of Despair” to reach the “Stone of Hope,” from which the sculpture of King emerges. ... His arms are folded, with one hand holding his rolled-up Dream speech, according to sculptor Master Lei Yixin, who is a Chinese citizen.Aug 22, 2011 Martin Luther King memorial unveiled on National Mall | Reuters
On January 15, 2019 (his birthday) he would have been 90 years old. He died when he was 39 (April 4, 1968). His Memorial is 8 years old, completed in 2011 of the 48th anniversary of the "I Have a Dream" speech that Martin Luther King Jr. delivered from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963.
If you are just seeing MLK there is parking along theside street near it.Watch Out BECAUSE parking along Pennsylvania Ave stops at 4 pm and ALL vehicles must be gone. Parking at a garage along the National Mall area works if you are planning to see other sites
No fees just make sure you dress for it it's outside I was there last February and it was pretty cold. There's a lot more to see there than just the Martin Luther King monument. A couple of other good museums but have fees are the spy museum and the Holocaust museum
It was built by a Chinese architect. I suppose the year is 2008. Its built in National Mall to mark respect to one of the greatest heros of The United States of America. Hope i am able to help you with your queries
The monument is free to visit along with the rest of the monuments in and around the National Mall.
Yes. In the mornings, the sunlight shines on the front of the MLK sculpture providing great lighting.
The monument is in the national mall (outdoor park) and is open 24/7 The Smithsonian museums are open every day except 12/25
Yup
Congress authorized Martin Luther King's fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, to establish a memorial to him in Washington DC. The memorial opened on August 22nd 2011.
No, it is directly across the Water from the Jefferson memorial. You get a great view of each from the respective sides of the water.
There are a number of monuments/memorials in the area. Lincoln, Vietnam, Korea, FDR, Jefferson.
We went at night and was able to park for free on a street close to the FDR and MLK monuments
Best way to find out will be to open the Google Maps app and ask for driving directions from your location to the Memorial. Estimated time will depend on time of the day because of traffic. I suggest to fly and spend a weekend on D.C.; it's super nice.
