I live in fort Myers and have been going there once a month for almost 2 years. I am terminally ill and my disability barely covers my expenses.. the staff was always amazingly wonderful. They were a god send. Until today. I had my friend bring me and I was stopped inside the door by a woman I had never seen. When she seen my address was fort Myers? She handed me a paper bag with 10 items in it. All of which I can't eat. No milk no eggs no toiletries which I need the most? I asked her if she could add milk and she said this is what non residents now get... If you don't want it? Leave for someone else. It's embarrassing for someone that has always helped others and worked my whole life to have to swallow their pride to take handouts as it is but to be talked to with such disrespect? That woman was absolutely horrible and I will never go back. I'd go hungry before I will ever be humiliated like that again. And what's worse is 80 % of donated items to them come from fort Myers Costco so shame on you Sanibel.. I've never seen fort Myers turn away a Sanibel resident... Shame on you.. FISH has been helping this single mom for the last two years and I am so appreciative. With a great staff of people, who never make you feel beggerly, FISH can't go wrong. I'm so happy to have been able to take advantage of this wonderful provision of food on Sanibel Island.
