I just wanted to share...The help I received today at TMGN was genuine, and wholeheartedly appreciated. This young man made me feel comfortable and honestly made me more knowledgeable on the WHOLE process of purchasing and the process in itself. He was especially kind to my 4 year old daughter tagging along with me. Im just very appreciative of how he helped me, and especially how took the time to handle my situation accordingly. After waiting what seemed like forever for an employee to help me my experience got better. I will say the poor girl that was working the front counter was slammed and everyone else seemed to be busy doing other things. The guy that finally came to help was very nice and helpful. When I went on to the range I meet a range instructor named Chris. He was a younger guy that told me he was a marine and was more than willing to help me sight in my rifle. He provided easy to follow instructions on what to do and gradually adjusted my optic based on where I was shooting on the target. I actually learned a lot from him by him showing me how to do this. This was by far the best experience here although every experience here has always been pretty good. Thanks!

I shot a .50BMG there no problem. I think the only rules are that you control your weapon, and hit only paper and backstop. I never saw any limits on specific ammo. This is why I went there. Its a 90 min drive for me on a good day, and its worth the drive.
Minors 10-17 can shoot semi auto rifles or pistols when accompanied by their parent. Shooters must be 21+ for full autos, no exceptions.

Rifles are far easier to shoot accurately. Good way to build confidence in a new hobby, but you'll find yourself wanting to take longer shots in no time. Check out the Ruger 10/22, they're affordable & extremely customizable. If you want a pistol, don't be discouraged if you're not a great shot right away.. it's more challenging. Consider a few intro classes to learn the basics of safety & range etiquette. You can't go wrong with a glock 17 or 19.
We have a 249 for rent. However with any machine gun, they require on going maintenance. I recommend calling the shop before going out to make sure it will be available that day.

I can't speak for the Machine Gun Nest but it is a firearms facility. You may be better off shooting your air rifle in a backyard that is appropriate, or setting up a pellet trap in a basement.
It’s better to bring it in, in the cardboard case that you bought it in than slung over your shoulder. Our company policy is that firearms must be in cases when entering the building and in this case the box would substitute for a case.
Hi James! Yes, we have plenty of rental options available. You can bring your own firearms or rent any of ours to shoot during your visit. Semi-auto rentals vary in price from $10-$15 plus the cost of ammo. You must be 18+ to rent rifles and/or 21+ to rent pistols.
I dont know if the machine gun nest does air gun repairs, I dont think they do. You may want to check with the gun shack in Mt Airy, I've only been once but that sounds like something they might do. Sorry I dont have more specific info. On the other hand, I've only had good experiences with the Machine Gun Nest so they may be worth checking with, they may be able to refer you to someone.
