First and foremost I usually do not write reviews but I felt so awful on leaving my visit yesterday I felt it was totally necessary. I want to start off by saying that this does not apply to front of office, the secretary was extremely nice and considerate. The nurse practitioner the same. I was visiting the office in hopes of finding someone that could help me with my pain management and heart issues. I have been driving back and forth to Wilmington NC to see a doctor I have been seeing for the past 5 years. Two months ago my doctor started outsourcing her patients to pain management. As can be expected I knew this would be a daunting task since most exhibit such frivolous behavior. Once in the back I had given all my meds to the nurse including the meds my doctor had given me on my last visit for withdrawals I case I was unable to find a doctor that was willing to help. Once the doctor walked in he not once looked at me. He looked down at his book and my paperwork and right away I knew I was being judged. He did not ask me how I was doing, how I felt he just said we don’t do that here. I politely said “ do what here”. Again he said “We don’t do that here”. I’m feeling very offended at this point given I’m not a druggie, never failed a drug test in my life and did not choose to be in pain. I asked what do you do then? Following up with, I came here in hopes of finding a doctor that could help me with pain management as well as my heart issues. But it’s understandable with the pandemic that this country faces that you are not willing to write medications on that level. But for a moment can you be a concerned doctor and at least hear me out. I have an appointment with pain management on the 11th of August. It’s the soonest I could book. Could you please just help me out until then. If not what do you recommend? Once again he said “ we don’t do that here”. My only and next thought was WOW Which is exactly what said. “Wow”. Followed by “so what your truly saying is you unwilling to treat me”. and in hindsight labeling me as a drug seeker. Although I’ve went to only one practice for the past 5 years and never once failed a single drug screen. He said I can write you cholesterol medicine. At this point I wanted nothing to do with this practice and politely declined and said “ if your unwilling to offer any type of alternative treatment or even look me over I don’t need your services. “. He said well “ you have your gabapetin”. I said one last thing”. Let’s be real doc, I’ve taken this medication for 25 years. I have 2 days left and I’m out. What’s gonna happen. What will gabapetin do? Doctors are so quick to judge. My wife has lost her job due to COVID-19, I have hoped to find someone understandable that would help in keeping me mobile and in hopes of not losing my home because with pain management I’m unable work. But I find a truly unapologetic doctor that couldn’t even look me in my eyes. Thanks I hope this review helps in showing what so many of us deal with from those who only judge instead of listen.
