Richardson Animal Shelter is full of it.We went there last week to look at a dog. They claim it had another one as a pair.We had to wait a week. The claim the previous owner was evicted so we went there today to adopt. We couldn't adopt them cause the previous owner lives a blocked over. They even tried to see if we wanted another dog. After I already told them we was looking for a laid back dog. Anyway....I guess They think we would give them back.. Very disappointing but like I told my son we will go to a breeder instead

DO NOT TAKE STRAYS HERE, & please ADOPT THESE POOR BABIES. Truly the worst place ever … for people that work at an ANIMAL SHELTER to HELP dogs.. they immediately turned away this stray dog we tried to help. They said they were full.. & didn’t have room for him. Questioned everything they could to not take him in. She said “well if you kept him last night why can’t you keep him again & take him somewhere else,” so I said “because I have rescue dogs already, so I can’t. I’m just trying to help”. Unfortunately her response was “ we’ll go put him back where you found him then” WHAT! I couldn’t believe it. They were so rude & hateful….MISTREATED ANIMALS! I’m so upset for those babies. So glad we found another shelter to take this poor stray too.

I inquired and they have as many volunteers as they can use. Aren't training more right now
It is very rare. Only animals who aggressively bite and bring blood after multiple quarantines. The vet and staff do everything possible to help rehabilate and heal sick and injured animals.
Yes and some birds, small and large dogs
Yes, they have one bunny right now. Go to their website to see more info and a photo of it.
Have too many volunteers right now. Aren't taking more
Adult Dogs (Older than 6 months) - $25 Adult Cats (Older than 6 months) - $15 Puppies (6 months or younger) - $35 Kittens (6 months or younger) - $20 *From the website! Hope it helps!
There are traps you can buy or maybe use from the shelter or animal control, get a can or two of cat food and and set them out. If/when the cat is caught, you can take it to the shelter where they can check for a microchip, and if it's not owned, then they can neuter it and put it up for adoption.
Where do you live? For owners surrendering animals The City of Richardson only accepts surrenders from current residents, like most other municipal animal shelters.
You may volunteer if it's for your own accord. Court ordered community service has restrictions they say.
Anything you can give would be appreciated!
The older cats may be already, but the kittens aren't (you have to wait til they are old enough). It is required as part of the adoption that you have to have it done, along with the proper shots, by a vet of your choice. There is a deadline to provide proof directly to the shelter as part of the contract you sign at adoption. Neither dogs nor cats are guaranteed spayed or neutered.
They are accepting any donations of food, toys, towels, blankets, dog beds, etc. There is a box by the door where you can drop off stuff.
Yes they'll take them
Yes, but I don't know the age. Call them and ask, Madilyn.
Yes they do take guinea pigs, rabbits & birds.
For puppies, the adoption fee is $30 under 6 months old & $25 if the puppy is over 6 months.
Only if you're a resident of the city of richardson (must have a valid address on your ID)
You would have to call them and ask.
Yes
They were Foster together, and cats do better with a friend. These two already know each other and they obviously work well together. It is the shelter's choice to keep them together for adoption
There is a black pit bull/lab mix named ace still there. Looks like he is about 2 years old
It's best to go physically look, or give them a call and ask if there are puppies
Even though you are too young to be an official volunteer, you can come with an adult and interact with the animals. This helps them feel more comfortable around people and will help them to be friendly and get adopted more quickly.
they run specials all the time, give them a call.
My understanding is although not 100% no kill they rarely have had to euthanize unless an animal is very sick or hurt without hope for recovery.
Go and visit or check the web site
You need to contact the Richardson animal shelter directly, try calling them or stopping by for a visit
They have pit bulls and lots of other animals that need forever homes. Check out their website or go and visit
Yes, however in this shelter it is 90% dogs and cats so they have limited space for rabbits. I have seen them here though.
