Great place to visit. Tons to see. We spent several hours walking around. The staff were very friendly. The museum is laid out by county and videos playing for each one.

I rarely give five star reviews, but this place deserves it!
It is huge, it will take days to go through all this and read everything. Very informative! They have displays from just about every country and culture you can think of.
It is very clean and all inclusive and very informative. Will definitely go back there again!
Do you have a genuine sax oboe in your saxophone collection? The instrument is shaped
similar to a straight soprano sax. The instrument is pitched in C and has an oboe reed receiver
instead of a regular sax mouthpiece set-up.

Wow great question wish I could answer. I would contact them directly, their collection is unbelievable.
Three hours will give you a great visit! Relax and enjoy, knowing you probably won't"t see everything. But don't pass up the opportunity; it is extraordinary!
Museum admission is $20 for guests ages 20 and over, $15 for teens (ages 13–19), $10 for children (ages 4–12), free for children ages 3 and under, and free for members.
No masks, no vaccination required. The museum is so large and open that it was easy to social distance. If you are going to a concert, you may want to bring a mask if that's what you need, because the theater is a good size but not guarantee that you won't be sitting next to someone.
All the others said, and it is not just instruments - it is genres of music and artists and bands, with history and the videos were great. The most comprehensive and well conceived and executed museum ever!
Is July teacher appreciation month? Can teachers visit free? If so, how does one reservation a time and get ticketed?

Yes, July is teacher appreciation month and teachers can visit free. From their website,
"During the entire month of July, pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade educators, school and district administrators, principals, registered student teachers and homeschool educators will receive free general museum admission upon presentation of a school ID, fingerprint clearance card or affidavit of intent."
Not including the kids classes are there things to do for a 4yr old and 2 yr old?

Yes, there is a room where they can play with a variety of different instruments. If you were to walk around the other exhibit spaces it will tire them out quickly. I believe they also offer classes geared toward your child's ages as well...you'll have to check out their website for that though.
Not sure about guided tours, but each person gets their own set of headphones and as you approach an exhibit the audio kicks in with the music. A note: the exhibit name is not reiterated within the audio.
The experience room on the lower level has several instruments everyone can try. Many are percussion but several are stringed. Fun room, but VERY noisy and hard to hear the instrument you're playing :(
There are no free days at the Musical Instrument Museum, but for a $100 membership, you and a friend can visit every day of the year. That's a true bargain!
The $100 membership is a great deal. It allows you and a guest unlimited visits throughout the year. And, if you pay the dayly rate ($20/per person), you can apply that to a membership the same day
Yes, you can use your own headphones if the are specific to your needs. As long as the plug is the standard (small) headphone plug (not the larger 1/4 inch plug).
Yes photos are permitted but you must pace yourself or you'll never get thru the museum. There's a lot to photograph there. We took hundreds of photos before we slowed down.
$20 for 1day; $30 for 2day pass; I wish I'd had the time for two days because it's a lot to absorb in one visit.
