As someone who grew up in this church during the 1980s, I was deeply disappointed with what I experienced when I returned to this place with the expectation that I was coming “home”. To be clear, I am not referring at all to differences in terms of style or creative delivery of UU values. I am speaking in terms of being left behind as a member of the congregation. Among other things. The timeframe I’m referring to is early to late 2010s. I do hope things have changed for the better since then.

As agnostics who reject the creeds of the churches we grew up in, but still hoped for a community, service opportunities, spiritual music, and a moral education for our children, we have found this to be a wonderful place to connect to all of these values. Hopeful, socially informed sermons and meditations leave me feeling inspired each week to do good in the world and for each other. I am proud to be part of a church that welcomes people of all religious and demographic backgrounds, and that does important work for many issues of social justice in Rochester.

If you go in the main entrance to the building, turn left towards the fireplace and walk. On the wall left of the fireplace (as if you're going around it), you can find the convenant.
