About a month ago I went to get blood drawn there with no problem. I went back a couple of weeks later and there were signs all over that I needed to wear a mask. I have a medical exemption to not wear a mask, and I told them so. The ladies let me come in sit down and get my blood drawn with no mask. Today my doctor ordedered blood drawn again. I called the Macon County health department to schedule and early morning appointment. After sceduling the lady told me that I would be required to wear a mask. To which I again replied I am medically exempt from doing so. She said that did not matter, they had immune compromised people there, and I could not come in without a mask. So I called Samaritan hospital and made a morning appointment (no mask was needed). I asked the lady how much for my blood test, and she looked it up and it was $69.00 out of pocket. That same test if drawn at the health clinic on my insurance is free! Both the Macon County Health Department and Samaritan Hosspital in Macon are County funded. The health department is about to find out tomorrow that my disability is covered and protected by the ADA. They are required "legally" to provide me "reasonabler accomadation" which would be to give me a shot in a private room or outside for that matter. I will be calling them tomorrow to explain this to them, and if they do not comply I will take them to court. The ADA law is the reason that Walmart, Costco, and Sam's club "ALL" have mandatory mask rules, and when I tell them I have a "medical exemption" they do not ever require me to wear a mask. Furthermore if they look on the CDC website they can see that one of the reasons they "do not" recommend wearing a mask. Is if a person has "breathing problems".
