Bleh Cats
Waited around for 10 minutes trying to get someone to help us meet dogs we wanted to adopt, they left 2 puppies in this tiny room with us that proceeded to do their business (which is totally understandable) but when we asked the 5 workers to help by cleaning it up who were playing on their phones at the front desk we were ignored for another 10 minutes while the dogs covered us in pee because nobody wanted to come to the room and safely introduce us. They have no care for the animals or the people wanting to adopt them. We came to adopt a dog, and left angry and covered in pee.

Contact arin vanloo on Facebook. She is very good with this
All adoptable pets are listed on our website: cmhspets.org.
A kitten is a lifelong commitment therefore you should obtain a vet of your choice. Someone you are comfortable with and trust your pet to. Start out right from the start with a vet for this life long journey. I recomend you do this soon. Not just for gender, there are shots and worming that should be done to keep you kitten healthy. I wish you and your new companion many.happy years together.
Yes. Give them a call to find out details
We don't refer to ourselves as a "no kill" shelter but we do operate at "no kill" standards. We had a 97% placement rate in 2018 and currently at 98% in 2019. Learn more here: https://www.cmhspets.org/about/
Hi Delano, we only refund adoption fees if a pet is returned for previously unknown health or behavior reasons.
There is not an after hours drop off kennel at CMHS.
I believe they said on Facebook they are, try calling to ask.
Hi Glen, while we do maintain a save rate of 97%, we do not use the term "no kill" to describe our shelter as the definition of the term varies between who you talk to. Some think it means no euthanasia ever, other stick to a certain percentage. We only euthanize here for extreme health reasons - we will not allow an animal to suffer, or extreme behavior issues - an animal that is unsafe to be placed in the community.
Adoption fees vary but you can view our available animals and see their adoption price at our website.
You may also check with the Vets Association of Missouri to inquire about lowcost/free services, if they are available to you at this time.
We are open by appointment. You can view our adoptable pets at our website and submit an application.
We accept certain in-kind donations but we do not currently need or accept carpet remnants.
The last I knew there was a waiting list to turn in a pet....they has been alot ppl turning them in since covid has ended. They have a link to help re-home on their site
We occasionally have ferrets for adoption. All adoptables are able to be viewed on our websites. Pricing varies but that too is listed on the website on the adoptable profile.
Applications are listed on the profile's of the pets.
I don't know. Call them. They are happy to answer any questions about supplies they need.
https://cmhspets.org/
They only take animals that are found/dumped/come from boone county.
Check out our website to learn about adopting from us: https://cmhspets.org/the-adoption-process/
We have a pair of senior boxers that would like to have a home together! You can see our available dogs on our website: https://cmhspets.org/adoptable-dogs/
If you have proof the puppy is yours that would help. Anything with dates especially. Did you post the puppy as missing on Facebook for example?
This isn't the place to post this. You need to contact them directly by phone or go to the facility to look for your pet. Posting rewardflyersusually helps.
We do specials on cats quite often - particularly in the summer and fall when we are at capacity. Check our website or Facebook page to stay up to date on our specials!
Yes. I adopted a 4 month old kitten from them and she was already spayed.
Are you talk about the naked mole rat if so idk about that you probably call an ask
Dog spays or neuters are $50. Please call us to schedule an appointment.
Ordinarily, puppies are given a DHPP (vaccines for distemper, adenovirus [hepatitis], parainfluenza, and parvovirus) at 10-12 weeks of age. You might want to see https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/health/puppy-shots-complete-guide/ for more info
It depends on the age and situation. Best to just give us a call and ask over the phone.
You also have to have a financial statement, but yes the do grants if available. If not the do reduced cost.
You can stop by during their business hours!
I would call them but... 1. I don't have a phone number and 2. This is new and I don't know how.
We mainly have dogs and cats, but we also have small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, gerbils, birds, etc. You can always see what we have available on our website!
If you live here in Boone County you can call animal control to see if they might investigate. 573 449 1888.
Take her to the vet!
If you are interested in any animal in foster care, you can visit our website to fill out the application.
The only veterinary services we offer to the public is quarterly vaccine clinics (next one is on May 11) and spay/neuter surgeries. Feel free to give us a call and we can help you find a local veterinarian for a check up.
We only take from outside Boone county with an appointment. You can call us to set it up.
Yes! We are open Monday through Saturday from Noon - 6 PM and Sunday from Noon - 3 PM.
We spay/neuter cats and dogs as long as they are at least two months old and weigh two pounds. Call us at 573 443 7387 to schedule a surgery.
We do have a community food bank that your neighbor can sign up for! It's open Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 8-11 am.
Spays are $50
You can put in a request that they are. As well there are several pet adoption agencies in the Columbia area that do. They put them in foster homes until they are adopted out permanently.
Yes! As long as you make it out to Central Missouri Humane Society we will gladly accept it! Thank you!
no but wouldn't hurt to call ahead because they are busy
Would you mind giving us a call or sending us an email so we can look into this further?
16 by yourself, 8 with a parent/legal guardian.
We can spay female cats here for $20. If you're a Boone county resident you may qualify for a free voucher as well.
You have to live in Boone county to be able to surrender an animal I think but please call them and leave a message. They will call you back.
Yes, especially if they arent busy. Even if you are adopting, it's a good idea to take your time and get to know the different dogs/cats. In the past, we've brought in our dog to meet prospective adoptees.
Nope, but I'm sure they would take a donation
He has an adoption hold on him.
Beagle and a mix breed male dog
I know this is a late answer. Noah's Ark has very reasonable rates under $100 for spaying and neutering rabbits.
Last year I paid $35 for shots and spay. If you are low income they have grants to help pay to get this done. All you have to do is call and inquire about the procedure. They are very helpful and very good about getting you an appointment.
Not very often but, have had them in the past.
The easiest way to volunteer to walk dogs is to simply apply to be a volunteer. You'll go through training on how to use the leashes and harnesses, as well as behavior to encourage in the dogs. This is typically an ongoing commitment though - were you interested in more of a one-time situation? As far as I know "Walk A Hound" is no longer a thing - the last mention of it is in 2012. You can always visit or call the shelter for more details.
Check the CMHS website to see what animals are currently available for adoption. When we adopted our dog two months ago, I saw some guinea pigs there.
Neutering is $40 and we can do microchips for $10. - CMHS Animal Care Manager
