1) they no longer have a phone in store to reach anyone. All calls are routed to a call center. 2) they NEVER have your insurance info! They keep getting computer upgrades and you have to repeat the info every single year. 3) virtual doctor- actually had a virtual visit in the exam room! Didn’t get to see a doctor on-site! Same for all the machines that measure they vision. If I knew this, I would not NOT kept my visit. After 6 years, I will now be finding a new place. There is no hometown feel. Sad. It’s basically mill.

This location is fine when you're in-person, but they only have the Visionworks Customer Service line listed as their phone number, so there is no way to contact the store without making a visit in person. Really regret choosing this location solely based on that because now I can't request my prescription.

This isn't my first experience at this location. I returned for my yearly exam because of a positive experience the year before. However, upon leaving this exam, I was left feeling mislead and confused. During the initial exam, I was again asked about contact lenses. In the past, contact lenses weren't an option for me because my insurance wouldn't cover them and I couldn't afford the out of pocket costs. Now, with a new insurance company, I was told that contact lenses ARE covered. I immediately felt excited because that would give me an amazing backup to my concert goings. I made it clear during the exam that I was interested in BOTH frames and contact lenses. Never did anyone tell me that it was one of the other. The only warning that they gave me was that I may still have to pay a little bit. Which, I was fine with. After the exam, I was told by two workers to look at my frame options as my coverage was "very good". Again, no mention of one or the other. It's not till I've been seated, measured for my frames and then charged for the frames (I was charged because I asked for transitional and anti glare and chose to pay the upcharge), that the women makes a comment about how I can return in approximately two weeks for my frames. When she didn't mention the contact lenses, I brought them up. She claimed that she didn't know that I was interested in contact lenses so she only charged me for the glasses. That, I was only allowed the option of one or the other and that if I still wanted the contact lenses, it would be around $168 for the monthly option. Then, I would have to pay an additional $50 for a contact lenses exam. Which, also hadn't been mentioned to me beforehand. Like, didn't I just have an exam done? When I questioned that, the response was "The doctors wouldn't know." Since I had already been charged for the frames, I ended up sticking with those. However, I left feeling very disappointed. Don't think I'll be returning for my third exam; even if I have insurance.

Still waiting for glasses a month later with no status update except to call back in 3-5 days. And why is this the only Visionworks that you can’t reach by phone? I had to drive there just to make an appointment for a contacts lesson since you can’t make that appointment online. I was told they knew their phone wasn’t working and were getting it fixed. That was a month ago. Phone still doesn’t work. As soon as I get my glasses, I am moving my business elsewhere.

That's unfortunate that you aren't able to get somebody on the phone. We have been going to Visionworks in East Greenbush for years and have had little or no problems. We weren't able to go last year because of the pandemic and we couldn't get an appointment but we just went last week and everything was fine. We had to wait about a month to get the appointment but it wasn't that big of a deal and we did get to see an actual optometrist. I understand that it is difficult now but maybe your experience was a little out of the ordinary.

They say there are no coincidences in life and it's funny how I get a notification from Google Maps because someone has a question about Visionworks Saturday I dropped my glasses off to pair one is to for reading the other is to see all the time and both of them the arm is broke off them the lady was when I went to the counter I told her I didn't have time to stand there my sister was here from out of town so I just needed you to look at him tell me if my insurance is going to pay she was very nasty or body language and everything I haven't gotten a call from them here it is Tuesday yesterday I called I was on the phone an hour and a half and they still didn't pick up the phone so when I went there to have my eye exam the first time they did it virtually and I don't believe in virtual eye exam the whole purpose of having an exam is to see if your eyes you know if there's anything wrong with your eyes so you can't tell via a screen so all I can say about Visionworks is lack of professio
Hello Colleen, you do not need an appointment to purchase new glasses.
Visionworks participates with most Csea insurance plans. You can find out for certain when you call to schedule an appointment.
Yes, they are still open. I got my glasses there very recently. Keep trying! They get busy and seemed short staffed for receptionists.
