Excellent museum covering the wonders of the east. Was there for learning about hieroglyphics interpretation. Some visitors chose to turn it into a political discussion on the museums collection. I feel very blessed for the existence of this and other museums like it to be able to see up close the great objects which serve as ambassadors of these great cultures. Thanks to everyone for working hard to give the public this production.

Great little museum that shows you a lot of ancient Egypt History. A really gem in the area. Very unique items. And thanks to the J. D Rockefeller Jr. the admission is FREE.

This one of the greatest archaeology collections in the USA. Its Assyrian, Persian and Canaanite collections are especially fascinating to Christians looking for artifacts from cultures in the Bible. If you’re local consider a membership, as this incredible museum is free to the public.

I love everything about this gem! The work they did to help preserve ancient antiquities! Thank you for educating me on Egyptian history with visual aids which inspired me to visit Egypt in person ❤️🥰💝

A reservation is required. Information on the days and hours of opening and also on requirements for reservations is on the Oriental Institute website.
The museum does not provide registration service.
No idea, maybe you should ask Billie Elish! Now, if you meant Gilgamesh then read on: Gilgamesh is the semi-mythic King of Uruk in Mesopotamia best known from The Epic of Gilgamesh (written c. 2150 - 1400 BCE) the great Sumerian/Babylonian poetic work which pre-dates Homer's writing by 1500 years and, therefore, stands as the oldest piece of epic world literature.
Such a broad question, I wouldn't have the foggiest idea!
no, it's hard to find parking space in Chicago
There's street parking but it's difficult to get a spot nearby during the day. There's a parking garage a few blocks away near Ellis and 55th.

The Oriental Institute does not provide monetary evaluations of antiquities and other objects. If you are interested in the history of the museum, contact Anne Flannery in the Museum Archives. You can find contact information for the museum on the Institute's website.
Our holiday hours are posted on our website: https://oi.uchicago.edu/visit/admission-hours
Weekday afternoons and late Wednesday evenings are the least busy; weekends are when many people visit and weekday mornings we often have tour groups.
You might be able to find someone at the museum, but there is no specific rescource for evaluation at the OI as far as I know. Persian and Uzbek would also be pretty late as far as the Oriental Institute is concerned, as most of their collection and research is in antiquity and late antiquity. You might try searching for one of the professors in the Middle Eastern Studies department to see if they might be able to help.
Yes free. Also special exhibitions. I like to donate so they can keep it going.
