Excellent skilled artisan who knows his trade. Have been using his services for over 20 years. It is so refreshing to have a small business and craftsman located conveniently in downtown Bethesda that provides much needed high quality services. I bring belts, shoes, and recently a favorite suitcase that needed repair. I have also purchased leather items, and suitcases from this shop because the owner, trained in Europe, knows his business and is willing to help his clients reuse, care for and recycle their items. If it is beyond repair, he gives an honest assessment.

So disappointed! It has been 10 years since I started using their services, although few and far between. The quality used to be good but has declined terribly over the years. Now you are lucky if the services you pay for get done there and if you get back all your shoes. They misplaced some of my shoes that somehow got separated from my ticket very recently. When I went back and asked they found some of my shoes tagged to the wrong customer. On a subsequent visit when I happened to inquire again about my shoes, another pair turned up in their lost and found. Also, leather shoes, a bag and a suitcase that I had paid them to clean and polish were returned to me recently with the same dust spots visible and unpolished. In the case of a leather bag, they returned it with polish poorly applied over moldy leather without even having cleaned the bag first. If you use their services, I do not advise that you pay upfront but that you wait until they complete the work and then pay. I also advise that you make them give you an itemized print out of your order if you are dropping off your items and take a picture of everything that you are leaving with them. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of the guy's/owner's memory, which is really poor lately, unfortunately. He will insist that you never ordered that service, even if you paid upfront for it. And you will have no proof, since they do not give itemized receipts or documentation of the order, beyond a mere ticket number. They also do not publish their prices on any menu, so you just get the price of the day. Extremely disappointed, since I used to like the quality of their work and recommended that people go there until these last few experiences. Never again!
