This is an exceptionally awesome campground!!! It is fairly primitive, so it is for campers who are going to enjoy “real”CAMPING! I have been going here since as long as I can remember, and have never tired of being in the wooded sights, riding the bike trails, and enjoying the beach! I love the clean, quiet nature feel, and I am sure that you will fall in love with it also!!!

I wouldn't even know where to start... This place is home.. it's the best camping in lower Michigan by far. The nordhouse dunes never dissapoint. Recommended to any type of adventurer.

Lovely beach despite the high waters. No showers. Consistent, but not constant, AT&T service. Wood wasn’t an even $5, it was an awkward $7, but if you find the host they make change. Couldn’t beat the location!

Only as a registered vehicle, otherwise only on designated atv trails.
Definitely thurs. And a back up plan
The campground is open all year. The question is can you get to it. The road is rough and likely snow covered. Not sure if they plow in the campground.
Yes, there are a couple of faucets in every loop as well as a couple along the path too the beach. The water from the bathhouse sinks is also potable. It's actually really good water, too.
There are usually a handful of sites open, but if you call you can ask about a reservation to be sure you will have one.
It's the first and last one. The two middle loops are reserve only.
Not on any of the 100 sites but we have stayed out in the woods off a trail and that's free. They have some awesome areas to do this but with hunting season upon us..... I would bet they're all taken.
Two loops are reserved, Two are first come first serve. It's part of the National Park system. We always make reservations on line. www.recreation.gov/camping/campground
Manistee Federal Campgrounds have sites outside where you can camp for free. You will need to haul your own water. No rest rooms
I think it's $23 per night. Unless you have a national park senior pass, then it's 1/2 price.
No beach front sites
Yes to the left of the main beach area
No, but u can use generators. They are bathrooms in the first two loops with electric and plumbing. The other two loops are out houses
We like the upper Manistee River State Forest Campground. It is right on the Manistee River. Easy access great area to walk around in and Hike a bit. You can get spotting service on the river. It is Northwest of Grayling off m-72. Also Hartwick Pines State Park is in the area as well. Which is where the photo was taken.
