Zero stars. My brother goes to this place for outpatient detox. He was recently turned away, denied service because he’s been “in and out” of the place too many times. Anyone working in addiction places would know that it’s a chronic disease that is hard to get rid off. It’s not a one shot deal where the patient will immediately get better. It’s a disease that is there for many years. My brother doesn’t trust a lot of people, and he has trouble committing still for inpatient. But when I spoke with the receptionist and the staff, they give me a judgmental tone. He had a treatment plan here for anxiety and was going to be starting cognitive therapy. I was under the impression that centers like these exist to help addiction for people on all stages of life. The fact that Parallax discounted his treatment because of an issue he has with his addiction, means this place only wants numbers and cares to look good in public but would discard you if you are a “failed case.” When I call I never get a call back or clear answers to their decisions, and when my brother calls someone always give him the turn around and never calls him back. These people are playing around and not serious. I already filed a complaint, while my brother should be ready for inpatient there’s no reason to deny him service if he wants help in getting sober as outpatient. Anyways I warned you guys about what Parallex does with the “failed cases.” Be warned.

Extremely helpful, supportive and professional staff that offer expert detox support. Everyone from the front desk to all the staff I saw, there was a judgement free zone. Highly recommend

I had a very bad experience during my appointment there. Someone at the front desk told me she would help me and make sure I got treatment but I got treated very badly. Everyone there seems very confused and they don't seem to work well. I couldn't finish the treatment because I wasn't sure who to trust. I might try again but the front desk staff is so bad I would be afraid. I saw some people talking about a really kind and good referral person, I don't know if she was there that day. my referral call was a nightmare. I don't recommend a place where people don't like their jobs.

I've had a sour taste in my mouth from the substandard treatment I have received. Had it been up to par as it was here-my journey may have not included so many years wasted. Staff was educated and I was made to feel respected, heard and supported. The only critique's I have is I would have preferred direct linkage to aftercare versus referrals. I've unfortunately been one of those get lost in the cracks people (it sucks) as I'm in bumble f queens far from transpo, far from any providers so setting something up is a process and more often than not with the immediate necessities ( RX refills) I have run out more than once and this in and of itself has caused immense setbacks. The second is it did seem much of the staff was in support of a certain treatment outcome that I was personally on the fence about. I felt pressured to commit to it, but inevitably did not. Perhaps my error for not expressing my ambivalence earlier, but I personally like to have room for more than one option and to have that plan supported even if it may not be their choice for me. However, being unable to hide a preference isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Thanks for your question! Unfortunately, just Medcare is not a payor for the services we provide, however, we were able to tap into the some supplementary policies' benefits in the past. We typically would refer patients covered by just Medicare to an inpatient facility. We also do work with all types of Medicaid. We'll be happy to provide additional details, please call us at 212-779-9207 to speak to Raj in admissions. Best, Parallax Center's Team
