After staying here for quite a while and meeting some good people in the dorms, it is a good place to live, as long as you keep to yourself, keep up with appointments with the Case Managers, save any SSI or SSDI money you receive, don't spend it on drugs with any new friends you meet, don't do credit with no one, have all the up to date paperwork like a Psych-Evaluation from a Psychiatrist, a Psycho-Social from a Social Worker or Therapist, Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Award Letters from Social Security Administration and/or the HRA, at least a state ID from NY, an up to date physical with the TB/PPD/STD exam paperwork and you will be able to leave and get your own apartment fairly quickly and positively...

Amerie Johnson the current director illegally came to America from Jamaica some years ago makes fun of 9/11 victims to staff and to clients and often speaks against Americans the same country she illegally entered years ago. She also often praises Jamaica in which is one of the most poorest countries in the world. This same director hires parolees from the Sumnor Projects, one of the most dangerous housing projects on N.Y.C. 80℅ of the workers in this shelter are currently on parole. They even hired someone who was recently released after 21 years in prison. If proper background checks were done on these people the city state or government would be sick to their stomachs at some of the crimes that landed these people prison. No wonder why the majority of people who unfortunately resides there are not getting help, 100℅ of the clients who move out are back in the system within 6 months to a year and those that don't move linger around and mentally deteriorate due to the environment their living in. 20 to 30 men living in one dorm style room would naturally break most men down over time especially when you have 100 percent recidivism rate and those that don't move out actually have died in this place. Over 25 people died in this shelter this year in 2018.

I'm currently a client at this Shelter and it's terrible. It's a Mental Health Shelter and the staff are not kind and show no empathy towards clients whatsoever. The security staff show no respect to clients, using foul language and allowing fights to secure between clients with no regard for protection. There's a numerous amount of drug dealing all through the night moving from room to room with security on the floors at their designated post. If your recovering from substance abuse and have Mental Health issues I highly recommend that you do not go to or refer anyone to this Drug Infested.. Health Hazard Shelter.

I have no personal knowledge of that but it wouldn't surprise me. There are many scumbags there on the staff.
