Clean, large sites, wood delivery in the busy season, stunning views, amazing stargazing! Also, I got engaged here! 5 out of 5 stars.

Nice sites for the most part. Mostly clean but the bathrooms can get gross on some heavy use days. Lots of kids because of how close it is to the Lower Falls where they can play in the water. Very busy and always lots of people coming and going as most people only stay a night or two. Electricity went down twice during rainstorms. Going in and out of the campground was frustrating as they have only one lane for entry which campers have to share with day use visitors. We got stuck in line a couple times, they really need a bypass for campers already registered. Hiking trails nearby which was great.

We stayed in site #64 which backed to woods and was nice. We walked easily to lower falls from campground which was absolutely breathtaking. The only problem we had was finding the camp site numbers-they are painted on the street in front of site but other people seemed to have same issue. Loved camping at Taquamenon SP (Portage) and can't wait to come back.

This is an amazing State Park Campground. The scenery is beautiful with easy access to the lower falls, it is a must stay. Newer bathhouses are a nice plus. There are miles of hiking trails just in the state park. We like kayaking and fishing the river too! No cell service (even Verizon) is a plus in my opinion, get outside 🚣‍♀️🌲🚵

Yes, back country is part of the north country trail and you have to walk in. Unless you mean rustic which just means it doesn't have power.

I don't think there are any rules against it.

How are the roads getting there? I'm driving a motorhome so also concerned about low tree branches.

We had no problem towing our TT, which is 38' long and 11'8" high. Also seen plenty of larger 5ers and MHs. Have fun, but take plenty of bug spray (depending on when you go, the mosquitoes were bad in mid June).
