The room was an average hotel room but the door wouldn't shut without lifting it up, like it was falling off one of the hinges. The second door lock was broke but couldn't get moved cause no rooms available. The pool was cold and hot tub was luke warm. Breakfast was subpar but that is my personal opinion. An OK hotel but I would go somewhere else next time.

Positive: The king sized bed was so nice and we loved the pillows! The bathroom was very clean! The room smelled fresh!

BEWARE!!!!! This hotel is not the place to be if you are a female or if you just don't want to be ripped off. I was harassed by the female at the front desk and the manager as well. I asked upon check in for a late check out as my ride wouldn't be able to pick me up until noon. They approved my check out for noon as they were not busy at all. Well, before noon they were banging on my door asking if I was smoking. I was baffled and told them to come in my room because I definitely was not smoking anything. The female was jumping around telling me to keep my dog away from her because my 17 pound dog was barking at her for yelling and acting like a crazy person of course that will make any dog bark. She tried to say they didn't know I had a dog. I said well, you better check because I paid the pet fee. She checked and realized I did pay the pet fee. Then she brought the manager who said well even though you aren't smoking in here, this area smells like smoke and the other guests near you already checked out so we are going to charge you $100, if you don't conform we will charge you $200 smoking fee. I said that is absurd you can't charge me, because the guest near me checked out before you realized they may have smoked. They still charged my credit card and it took almost 2 months to determine it was a fraudulent charge for me to get my money back from the credit card company. Bottom line - They will do their best to find a way to add additional fees in whatever method they can to make their profit. Do not stay here, give your money to a hotel that hires staff with morals and ethics as there are none at the Super 8 in Brookings.

This is the cleanest, most comfortable Super 8 I have ever stayed in! Nice spread for breakfast. Coffee/tea available 24 hours. Nice front desk employees. Beds are comfortable, heater in room is quiet- big deal for us! Great to have micro and fridge in room. Pool and hot tub is nice!
