We used to take our dogs to the lake and would let them swim out to get a toy or whatever. I would say yes
Spring is the best time for cats and panfish.. fishing slows down with the heat. Crappie hit all winter long.

There are many hunting access areas on the north west side of the lake. There are some on the south side by the spillway and a couple on the north east side by the college.
