Travel agencies seem to be going out of style but booking an interesting trip on my own was very much overwhelming. I looked at a variety of travel agents but decided to give AAA a try because I have a membership. The agent was friendly and a good listener. I gave her the "essence" of what I was looking for in a vacation. She asked me some excellent questions and then validated the type of vacation I was looking for before giving me a few options with brochures in hand. I very quickly chose a Riverboat Cruise down the Mississippi from Memphis, TN to NOLA with a few extra nights at each end. It was overall an excellent experience both vacation and with AAA and the travel agent. Maybe I was lucky with the travel agent but I use AAA quite a bit from license renewal to car battery jump to passport photos and it has always been a positive and professional experience so I don't think it is luck. It seems like they hire, train and maintain good, experienced, smart and friendly people. The travel agent side of the business was really nice for me in today's do-it-yourself travel industry whixh I found to be overwhelming and anxiety invoking with so many choices and different prices all over the place for the same thing. They put it all together for me and made sense of the hodge podge of choices. I left feeling like I got the best prices and discounts on exactly what I was looking for with zero stress!
