I had a review that's disappeared now so DNP must have removed it. I am a little confused because I like the park very much. There's only 3 parks like this in NC and I understand 1 is closed so DNP is special and worth the drive, if you're not close. Prices are good, except concessions. Those are too high. All other costs are fair and worthwhile! My real issue with DNP is the litter everywhere. My last review showed the park's beauty with all the litter I saw that day (have added those pics back with others). I try to pick up litter to help, but it's too much. Wish people visiting respected nature more and realized that dnp doesn't regularly clean up litter. I'm also disappointed with their new construction. It's not very "green", especially for a state nature park. I also miss the old, original, multiple walking trails. Now they've created a much wider, less natural hiking trail. Please come to dnp and please don't litter. Thanks!

Alot of fun especially for the kids!

The park is beautiful, staff is friendly, has everything you could want to do and spend a full day doing. Do plan on going right when it opens so you can see the animals, after they eat they go to their hiding places and sleep. We could only see the bears, whom were also asleep. Animal attractions and splash pad were open. Lake rides, train, and carousel are only for the weekends. Everything was great, right up till the very end. An ignorant racist group made us feel unsafe and unwelcome. The hatred emanating from them was so intense my normally happy children started crying. The three stars are not so much for the park, but for the area. There needs to be multicultural awareness and integration. God protect every melanated person living there.

It's free. Thee are fees for the attractions, paddle boats and fishing. The fees e very minimal.
You have to bring your own.
We pack a cooler and/ or grill out during our visits. Not sure what the menu consists of.
Depends on what kind of pet it is. If it is a dog, It has to be on a leash at all times. Anything other than that I don't know. Good luck 👍
The Barnyard And wild life zoo is $1 per person. Nature center is free
Our Stanback Barnyard exhibit does not currently have a cow. Please visit www.rowanwild.org for the latest info on hours, exhibits, and contact info.
Yes, but there is also a concession stand which is very reasonably priced.

Yes, there is one around the pond and then one that goes really far into the woods by the dam.
The cabins are nice. They have a full bed and one set of bunk beds. You are responsible for bringing your own linens, towels, and cookware. The cabins provide electricity, air conditioning, microwave, and 4 folding chairs. Outside there is a picnic table, campfire ring, and water pump. The bathroom is not too far away. The bathhouse/bathroom is clean, the water gets nice and warm, and the water pressure is awesome. We are enjoying our time here!
Fishing is allowed in the park with the following fee structure: Senior citizens age 60+ -Free; Children under 3 years of age - Free; All others - $1.50.
Its a great family place. Lots of open grass, fun things for all ages.
There is a zoo and a mini golf too. Along with a carousel, mini train, boating, fishing, hiking, kids playgrounds and plenty of shelters if you want to do a cookout!
It varies depending on the size of the shelter. You can visit the website for details. All shelters are free M-F but must be reserved.
Concessions and Hurley Station both take credit/debit as payment.
Paddle boats are only open weekends now.
Wish I could help you out with the answer but I can't. I've been to the park several times but have never purchased anything. I'll research it for you if you'd like. :)
My son said the sheep
Yes as far as I know the last time I went there about 4 yrs ago
No; the lake at Dan Nicholas only allows for paddle boats rented through the park.
For a few rides you need to be 46 inches tall. If not you need to be accompanied by an adult.
It was when we went.

I might be off here but I think they're closer to 8ft
No
I don't see why. Unless their scared or can't swim.😨 😬
Yes, took my family there about three weekends ago and all the attractions are closed until further notice. But the play park for kids is open And my one and a half year old daughter had a blast there! 👍
Not at this time. The paddle boats and minigolf course are also still closed
Dan Nicholas Park was created originally with a gift in 1968 of 330 acres of land from Mr. Dan Nicholas, a local entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Yes they do have it! I am not 100% sure on cost because they have smaller buckets and bigger ones that you mine thru to find the gems! It is so much fun!
Yes
I have no idea just know they close at 8 pm went to go fishin at 6 pm one night an only had 2 hours to catch a bluegill and a cat. But i would call the park or go up there to the park reservation shack and ask.
The concession stand sells chips, drinks, candy, ice cream, hotdogs, nachos, and other snacks.
Yes, we have Rowan Wild which includes the Stanback Barnyard, Nature Center, and Wildlife Adventures. Pricing is listed: https://www.rowancountync.gov/DocumentCenter/View/13040/Dan-Nicholas-Park-Price-List-PDF?bidId=
For the week of April 22-26, the train, carousel, mini golf, and gem mine are all open (last ticket at 4:30). Rowan Wild and Barnyard are also open (last ticket 3:30). Splash pad and paddle boats will open Memorial Day (weather permitting).
I'm pretty sure, they have lots of merchandise
Yes, Dan Nicholas Park will be open on Easter Sunday 9 am to 6 pm.
Dan Nicholas Park does not offer wristbands. All attraction prices are $1 or less except for the Gem Mine (https://www.rowancountync.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Miner-Moose-Gem-Mine-13).
There play ground and walking areas are but not the boats or attractions are not.
The park is open all year but not all of the attractions are. This is a Wonderful park. I love the campsites and the peaceful feeling along with the attractions.
There is a concession stand with hotdogs, Dippin' Dots ice cream, chips, drinks, etc.
They have maps in the visitor center where you catch the train. You may even be able to find the map online. But the bridge isn't to far from the main area. You can also Google map it and it will show you where the bridge is.
We do not allow any pets/animals including dogs unless they are registered service animals. This includes the Wildlife Adventures, Barnyard and Nature Center. As for Dan Nicholas Park, animals are allowed but must be leashed at all times, and are not allowed inside buildings.
The attendant was elderly and not very attentive when I was there last time, so you could probably get 7 or 8 people on a boat before it capsizes. But the plastic is molded with two forward facing seats and two rear facing seats. Four total.
Yes but no full hookups but there is a dump station
I really don't know you can call and ask
There are no laundry facilities available in the campground.
Anyone can reserve it. They just cost more than the smaller ones.
Yes there are. I've seen the road leading to them near the campground
Yes, many of them!
There's not a place for 4x4's. Bicycles and walking are how you commune with nature.
I will find out
I dont know the number but I figure the best shelter would be the ones near the zoo right across from the Eagles cage because it's plenty big and has plenty of shade and is right in the middle of everything, as for the wedding just find their number and call about it because I don't know how they would handle that.
Once you turn right, going towards golf, it will be the first shelter on the right.
There's One By The Childrens Playground and Miniature Golf. One By The Barnyard and rowan wildlife zoo and nature center. One In the Consession stands. and by the ATM. One By the Picnic shelters and Granite Quarry Depot and Two Restrooms that are also a Bathhouse in the Campground.
